September was an excellent month compared to August's sales in Carova. My belief is still that 2011 will see the most transactions in 5 years, and that this can be the first step to recovery. Total transactions year to date are on par with 2010. I am being told that sales are up on the other beaches along the Outer Banks. This is proving to be a great year for real estate sales in Carova, NC.  Whether you are interested a house or land, now seems to be right time to buy. Here is a list of what has sold this past month. If you want want to see what has sold for the entire year you can go to my website at http://CarovaSolds.4x4RE.com   September 9/2/11 --- 2375 Swan Island Rd. --- $25,000 9/15/11 --- 2381 Ocean Sands Rd. --- $34,969 9/16/11 --- 2344 Swan Island Rd. --- $24,000 9/19/11 --...

Here in Carova, NC the tides are an important part of our daily like. For most coastal communities knowing the tides is helpful for people boating or fishing, here it is important for driving. Since getting anywhere commercial from even the closest house requires a 2 mile drive on the beach itself, it can be very advantageous to know when low tied is so you can drive on the smooth hard packed sand rather than the dry sugar sand that Carova is well known for.   So as a Public Service, I will be posting the tides weekly each Sunday. If you would like to get the tides delivered to you daily, you can follow me on Twitter or like my Facebook Fan Page.     Carova Weekly Tides: Sunday: Low/12:07AM High/6:20AM Low/12:34PM High/6:36PM Monday: Low/12:45AM High/7:00AM Low/1:16PM High/7:14PM Tuesd...

For years now that Corolla Wild Horse Fund has been fighting to get permission to allow the heard size above the 60 that they allow to have under existing rules. Finally this week, they succeeded and HR 306 was passed! We thank Karen McCalpin for all her dedication & efforts in protecting the beautiful creatures.  By Jeff Hampton The Virginian-Pilot© October 5, 2011 A Congressional committee approved Wednesday the expansion of Corolla’s wild horse herd even as the latest count revealed the biggest population in the last two decades. The U.S. House Committee on Natural Resources approved legislation that would allow Corolla’s wild horse herd to be no less than 110 individuals with a target of 120 to 130, said Karen McCalpin, director of the Corolla Wild Horse Fund. “This is a big step in...

If you are looking for an interesting place to visit, live, or own a home consider the northernmost tip of the OBX.  The 4wd beaches of the Outer Banks are interesting, unique and definitely not the ordinary. Once you leave the asphalt of Route-12 in Corolla, you need to travel the rest of the way via four wheel drive.  The northernmost beaches of the Outer Banks which are accessible only by 4wd are collectively known as Carova.  Carova consists of several communites.  Three of the more well-known communities are, Swan Beach, North Swan Beach, and Carova Beach.  If you want to enjoy life, away from it all, this could be it.  Imagine life with no grocery stores, convenience store, pharmacy, or even roads.  Stop and breathe the clean salt air.  Homes in Carova range from non-insulated bea...
