Here in Carova, NC the tides are an important part of our daily like. For most coastal communities knowing the tides is helpful for people boating or fishing, here it is important for driving. Since getting anywhere commercial from even the closest house requires a 2 mile drive on the beach itself, it can be very advantageous to know when low tied is so you can drive on the smooth hard packed sand rather than the dry sugar sand that Carova is well known for.   So as a Public Service, I will be posting the tides weekly each Sunday. If you would like to get the tides delivered to you daily, you can follow me on Twitter or like myFacebook Fan Page.     Carova Weekly Tides: Sunday: High/2:13AM Low/8:19AM High/2:52PM Low/9:32PM Monday: High/3:11AM Low/9:14AM High/3:48PM Low/10:30PM Tuesday:...

I received this email yesterday from the diriector of the Corolla Wild Horse Fund. Getting notices like this is just dreadful and shouldn't have to happen. The county ordinance requires the public to stay at leat 50 feet away from the animals, and absolutley NO FEEDING for this very reason. On June 21st, we removed a two week old foal after treating him in the field for malnourishment. He died the next day. A necropsy showed that foal died of sepsis as the result of an impaction in his colon. We later learned that tourists in the rental house on the other side of the firehouse ramp were seen feeding the foal’s mother and father water melon rind. They were told to stop by a resident and he was told that they knew what they were doing. This was a foal born perfectly healthy to a healthy ...

June had only one closing as compared to May's sales in Carova, but it ended with about 10 properties 'under contract'. My belief is still that 2011 will see the most transactions in 5 years, and that this can be the first step to recovery. Total transactions year to date are up about 40% from 2010. I am being told that sales are up on the other beaches along the Outer Banks. This is proving to be a great year for real estate sales in Carova, NC.  Whether you are interested a house or land, now seems to be right time to buy. Here is a list of what has sold this past month. If you want want to see what has sold for the entire year you can go to my website at http://CarovaSolds.4x4RE.com   June 6/29/11 --- 420 Brant Rd. --- $82,500

Technically you need a permit to have a parade on the OBX. So we just happen to have a case every year on the 4th of July where everone ends up driving up the beach at the same time. They cruise on up in some od the most unique beach buggies that the Outer Banks has ever seen.   Here is some video of it to get a sample of what life is Carova, NC can be like.  Unfortunately I was not able to make it this year myself, so The video is from a friend who posted it to her Facebook account.   Part 1, Part 2 Enjoy. :)
