May 19, 2012 8am Race the Waves - 8K Road Race & 5K Fun Run Emerald Isle NC Parks & Recreation Department presents the 3rd Annual 8K Road Race and 5k Fun Run will begin at 8am at the Eastern Ocean Regional Access at 2701 Emerald Drive in Emerald Isle NC. The 8K course follows a simple out-and-back route from the access, briefly down Hwy. 58, and then along scenic Ocean Drive.   Emerald Isle NC - Bicylce Path Extensions Information obtained from the City of Emerald Isle presentation to Emerald Isle NC Real Estate Professionals on March 16, 2012. Emerald Isle NC - Golf Cart Program Information obtained from the City of Emerald Isle presentation to Emerald Isle NC Real Estate Professionals on March 16, 2012. Golf Carts are now allowed to operate on Emerald Isle NC's streets except for NC 58 and Coast Guard Rd. The Emerald Isle Golf Cart Programs permits the use of golf carts as long as you obtain a permit from the town of Emerald Isle. You must also meet certain equipment requirements, such as, seatbelts, lights, blinkers, etc. You must be at least 18 years old to operate a golf cart on Emerald Isle roads. The Golf Cart Program in Emerald Isle NC was initiated last year and was well recieved. Emerald Isle NC Public Boating Access Area Park Development Information obtained from the City of Emerald Isle presentation to Emerald Isle NC Real Estate Professionals on March 16, 2012. The Emerald Isle NC boat launching and parking facility was completed in April 2011. The Public Boating Access area is located on Bogue Sound near mile marker 18 on NC 58 on Emerald Isle NC. Now the city has plans to develop the area as a comprehensive soundfront park over time as funds are available. The status of the improvements is that a small covered picnic table is currently under construction and a Veterans Memorial to be erected within the next few months.
