The beautiful  Latta Plantation nestled in Huntersville is a great place to take children and people of all ages for a great educational experience of early American life on this pre-Civil War era living history farm.  There are seasonal events and guided tours year-round.  There is a small fee per person but it's definitely worth it.  Make sure to check out their honeybee exhibit!       02/02/2015

I've written about Vermillion before but I really love this community and the fact that it has it's own restaurant in the community is unique and a great place to meet people in the neighborhood. Harvey's has great beers on tap, a fun pub-style menu and a cozy atmosphere.  Harvey's has done so well in Vermillion that they've opened a second location in Cornelius. 01/30/2015

Ayyone who knows me, knows I love Asian food and one of my go-to restaurants for inexpensive, fast Asian fare is Yoshi's in Huntersville.  I go there for lunch on occasion when I'm in the area and I love their inexpensive sushi rolls and their chicken hibachi with vegetables is always fresh and I can walk out only spending between $10 and $12 and have leftovers for later.   01/30/2015

On my birthday some years ago my best friend surpised me with a white chocolate raspberry cake that was so beautiful and probably the best cake I ever tasted, I thought to myself, whoever made this cake, definitely has to make my wedding cake some day. A few years later, that came to fruition.  The Bakery Shoppe in Huntersville, NC made my 4-tier, half white chocolate raspberry, half hazelnut cream ruffle wedding cake.  To this day, I still get compliments on my wedding cake. I love the fact that this small family owned bakery makes everything fresh daily and I can go in there on any given day and find something special for the season as well as the classic cupcakes, cookies and pastries. 01/26/2015

Anyone who knows my husband knows how much he loves wings.  He's from Buffalo, New York and loves to boast that his home town is where the chicken wing craze started and is still the best place to find great wings.  With that being said, he has found a wing spot that he loves here in Huntersville called Taste of Buffalo. What a great name, huh?!  And during our last trip to Buffalo to see his family we went to Duff's, his absolute favorite wing restaurant there and he actually said that while he still loves Duff's he prefers Taste of Buffalo! The inside isn't much to look at but they are always busy and you can always find a Buffalonian or two there as well as the locals.  The pizza is also really great, so whenever my husband wants to go there, I already know what I'm going to get! 01/26/2015

When one of my best friends and clients wanted to find a community close to uptown Charlotte but not too far from the Lake Norman area,  I knew Vermillion in Huntersville would be perfect for her and her husband and soon to be born daughter.  The community boasts it's own restaurant/bar and has a friendly neighborhood vibe.   The  development  showcases several builders styles in the community, which give it character in the age of one-builder developments.  Since she and her husband built their new home there last year, I can see it was definitely the right choice for them and they couldn't be happier!   01/26/2015

I am really looking forward to Spring. The Lake Norman area is great year-round but I really love it in the springtime. I also love going to local farmer's markets. My favorite is the Huntersville Growers' Market which will open again in May 2015 on Saturday mornings from  8am-12pm. It boasts the areas best local farmers and has the best fresh fruits and vegetables and amazing homemade pies, and even crafts!   01/24/2015

I grew up eating Chinese food at least once a week. My parents love it and before the age of 5, I was a seasoned pro, eating everything from egg drop soup to egg fu yung!  I have had a lot of Chinese take out and I would have to say, my absoulte favorite in the Lake Norman area is Jin Jin in Huntersville.  It's only a take-out restaurant and they don't deliver, but that doesn't seem to hurt them. Every time I go to pick up my order, there is a steady stream of people waiting patiently for their food.  It doesn't look like much from the inside but trust me - try their food and you will see.  Everything they make is made to order and they don't use MSG.  My favorite dish there is their house lo mein....I think I know what I want for lunch now! :)    01/23/2015

I was informed recently that some family members will be coming to visit us in a few weeks. From the moment I heard of their visit, I thought of Discovery Place Kids in Huntersville. I know their two little girls will absolutely love it!  It's educational, interactive and so much fun.... every time I have been, I think I have just as much fun as the children!!  It's also a great place for a birthday party!   01/23/2015

I love Mexican food. I also love a great margarita. My go to spot for Mexican food is La Unica, which is located in Huntersville.  Since moving to a larger location, word has spread and it is always packed when I go. They also have a location in Harrisburg and Indian Trail. Make sure to try their green salsa if you want a spicy treat!    01/23/2015
