Saturday it seemed that overnight the leaves on many of the trees in Maggie Valley and Waynesville turned a beautiful shade of gold. These pictures were taken in Maggie Valley Saturday afternoon after I visited the Church Street Art and Craft Fair in Waynesville. Here are some photos taken Friday morning in Maggie Valley. This morning I found and posted (from the Foliage Network): Fall Foliage Color Report - October 10 Fall Foliage Leaf Report - October 10 ©Susie Blackmon

We get all dressed up in Maggie Valley, Waynesville and all of Haywood County for the Arts and Crafts Festivals and the Apple Harvest Festival, not to mention, all the leaf-lookers. The festive residence in these photos is located in Maggie Valley, and I can't help but wonder if the inside is decorated as well. Soco Road, the main drive through the heart of Maggie Valley, is also decorated with fall decorations and pumpkins, and of course the trees are lending their beautiful colors. Stay tuned for those pictures! Here is a link to a LIST OF REGIONAL WEBCAMS for viewing fall foliage throughout the Southeastern United States. ©Susie Blackmon

Several days ago I stopped by Jude’s at 1130 Soco Road in Maggie Valley to have something decadent - - ice cream, whipped cream, and gooey sauce on top. The most difficult part for me was picking out which flavor of ice cream would taste even better with caramel sauce AND chocolate sauce drizzled all over it. Hershey’s Ice Cream is served at Jude's, and the different flavors are numerous (for cones, shakes, sundaes, banana splits … you name it). Stop by Jude's to enjoy some ice cream and coffee … and have some FREE WI-FI in Maggie Valley with your hot fudge sundae! You may contact Marla via email: CafeIceCream@aol.com, or telephone at 828-944-0220, or just stop by Jude's. Easy to find, easy parking. Please click the chart for a larger version. Source: MLS. Data deemed reliable but, not guaranteed. The number of residential sales in 2009 (361), year-to-date, is lower than any of the previous years in this report (2004 through 2009) and, as previously reported, our inventory of homes for sale (absorption rate) is, well, out of control. Too many homes for sale, too few buyers. 1,304 active listings (Average listing price = $350,980) 22 listings in the MLS noted as Foreclosures Absorption rate (based on 41 sales per month) = 32 months More Market Reports: Haywood County NC – 2009 Residential Real Estate Sales by Month – As of 09/30. It's that time of year... beautiful produce, good food, beautiful leaves, and visitors! Shopping Wednesday led me to 2 produce stands, a drive by Seven Silver Seas, and a visit to an ice cream store (more about the ice cream in another post). Christopher Farms in Waynesville grows and carries fresh produce and products that the locals love. Duckett's in Maggie Valley also has beautiful produce and products, some of which is in the slideshow below. Seven Silver Seas in Maggie Valley sells unique and affordable sterling silver jewelry. Maggie Valley features four distinct and beautiful seasons, and is preening for Fall 2009, as evidenced by the pumpkins that are dominating the decorations of many businesses along Soco Road, which is the 'main drag' in Maggie Valley. Cabbage Rose is a retail store in Maggie Valley that is beautifully decorated year-round. Not only do they have unique things to dress up your home and your body, but they have a huge section of nothing but Christmas decorations. Guayabitos serves delicious Mexican food and is a very popular place to eat in Maggie Valley, and is located right next door to the Cabbage Rose. We have had quite a bit of rain recently and Monday it didn't stop raining all day so I had to take a photo run to see how full the creeks in Maggie Valley were. Great to see that the businesses in Maggie Valley are starting to 'dress' for the Fall season. Orange really stands out when the skies are grey.
