It's the official first day of Autumn 2009, and that always get me excited. Fall is my favorite time of year for several reasons. I love the cooler crisp weather, and the brilliant sunshine dancing on the yellows, reds, oranges and purples of the foliage. I love the smell of the fallen leaves and the crunching sound when you walk on them. I love the smell of fried apple pies and the sweet and refreshing taste of ice-cold cider. I love snuggling by a warm fire on a chilly evening and listening to the embers crackling and hissing as they dissipated into ash. In honor of the arrival of the season, here are some photos from past autumns. I hope that you enjoy them!

Sunday afternoon my drive around town was full of photo opps in Maggie Valley -- horses, Fall leaves with great color, balloon biker dudes and beautiful flowers. Fall decorations at local businesses are starting to appear, so soon we will have our Fall 'clothes' on for our leaf-lookers. Several of biker dude balloons were ‘anchored’ at the Festival Grounds in Maggie Valley, home to many events and craft fairs during the year. The unique Festival Grounds feature stunning mountain views, and close proximity to shopping, lodging and restaurants. Meetings with realtors are much more fun when they are held at The North Carolina Arboretum in Asheville. Spiders, frogs and beautiful flowers were all within a stone’s throw of our meeting room. Thankfully there weren't any spiders IN the meeting room. “The Arboretum’s 434 acres of natural beauty provides ample opportunities for all ages to connect with nature and learn how plants are important to our world. Visitors from across the world enjoy exploring the Arboretum’s outdoor exhibits such as art installations and 65 acres of cultivated gardens, including one of the finest, most unique bonsai collections in the United States.” The Carolinas Dahlia Society is holding it’s Annual show at the Arboretum this weekend (September 12 and 13), and there are many Exhibits, both inside and outs...

Since way back in 1952, Maggie Valley’s 2009 Business of the Year, Maggie Valley Restaurant, has been ‘Maggie’s Family Eatery’ serving delicious Southern food all day long. Terrific (IMHO) too: ‘Breakfast Served All Day.’ A few days ago I met a friend at Maggie Valley Restaurant who had no clue I was going to ‘Flip’ his food - a grilled turkey sandwich (notice – in the video – the fat piece of turkey wedged between those 2 slices of grilled bread). This pretty little 'chocolate' colt caught my eye Friday afternoon while I was looking around at the different horse properties and farm properties in Maggie Valley. The Crabtree area of Haywood County has more beautiful farms decorated with horses and cattle than Maggie Valley does, so this handsome guy surprised me since he wasn't too far from the Festival Grounds in the heart of Maggie Valley.   Horsealicious. The llamas from LlamaCaddy were very welcome guests at Maggie Valley Club last Thursday. It is my understanding they will be there every Thursday afternoon through October to caddy for the golfers. Quite a wonderful site to see. Contact the Maggie Valley Club Pro Shop here if you want to play a game with the llamas, or call 828-926-6013. The llamas from LlamaCaddy are also available for other events, so keep that in mind! More information and videos about the llamas from LlamaCaddy. Horsealicious. Bucking the Real Estate Trend. If you are interested in speaking up or listening to the latest information about the proposed construction of a nursing home on prime property in Maggie Valley, stop by Town Hall today at 5:30 p.m. Hmmm, let's see ... 'we' want to build a nursing home on prime property across from the Post Office (i.e., on the 'main drag' in Maggie Valley)? Just sayin'.

The Blackberry Winter Antique Mall is located at 2776 Soco Road in Maggie Valley, which is the 'main drag' in Maggie Valley. The store specialty is primitive and locally-made country furniture, the location is easy to find, and the parking is plentiful for your convenience. There are many treasures, so go when you have time to wander around. Join me on Twitter: Some of my other websites: HORSEALICIOUS Breaking Horse News Breaking Asheville News

Maggie Valley has several subdivisions full of nice homes with great views, and I drove through one of them yesterday afternoon - - The Knolls off of Evanscove Road - - with my video in hand. The Knolls is a nice, quiet subdivision, with great views and very easy access, and there are quite a few homes and lots for sale at the present time. Ghost Town in the Sky and the office for the Town of Maggie Valley are seconds away. I noticed several ice cream shoppes in close proximity as well (just sayin').  View Map Some of my other websites: HORSEALICIOUS Breaking Horse News Breaking Asheville News

Late Friday (July 10) I went for a ride looking for some porn, and also to see what was going on in Maggie Valley. The weather and clouds didn’t make for a pretty video, but please enjoy the short ride. Visit the Festival Grounds Saturday or Sunday for the Arts and Crafts Festival. Visit the Wheels Through Time Motorcycle Museum Saturday or Sunday. Eat at Joey’s Pancake House in the morning. Spend some time at Ghost Town in the Sky this weekend. The apples are growing around Maggie Valley and making me think of the fall Apple Harvest Festival. Haywood County has wonderful apple orchards famous not only for their apples, but also their ciders, apple cakes, jams, and a sundry of baked goods. Here is a link to addresses and directions to various Haywood County apple orchards and others in the Blue Ridge region of beautiful Western North Carolina. Crazy Bob's (I love his advertising) is right on the main drag to Maggie Valley, Dellwood Road, and he has an eclectic collection of 'Crazy Bob' stuff. He's right next door to the Greyhound Bus terminal which also sells good ice cream cones. Could be my dinner again tonight. High Country, a rustic cabin decor up-scale furniture store is a short way down the road too, and I would imagine they will deliver just about anything you want from their showroom. Many people want to move to Maggie Valley or Waynesville and live on a beautiful creek, and I can't blame them, although I picture myself on a creek with a Cowboy and an Airstream. Wouldn't it be great to sit outside of your RV with your wireless card updating your blogs with your posts and pictures, knowing you can drive off to horse events and not have to pack?  These photos were taken June 25th, late in the afternoon, not far from me. The creek is running right along an RV park where I'd love to have a creek-front spot. ***Visit my Breaking Asheville News site. See my Photos of the Day. See my Flickr Photos.
