This is my first go at making a video other than family videos. It is of a neighborhood called Crooked Creek Estates in Monroe, NC, just south of Charlotte, NC. Any suggestions that you may have are certainly welcome. BTW - There is no community pool, club house, parks or the like in the neighborhood or I would have included them too!

Your Union County real estate agent and Mom of 3 suddenly found herself in a real need of tires. My hubby started telling me a couple weeks back that a new set was going to be a necessity before the Thanksgiving holiday. We started searching for the best tires for the price immediately. The only places that I knew of to get tires locally were the typical chain stores. The best price for a set of 4 tires that were were quoted was $158 more than what I eventually paid. The family and I were driving on Hwy 74 in Monroe over the weekend and I saw a billboard that caught my eye. Yes, I know a billboard, not a tweet, text, email or facebook ad. It was for Tire Country and simply said "We will not be undersold". I called that day and it just rang and rang. The following Wednesday I remembered ...

Usually I defer these types of decisions to my husband and kids. I am going to get on this vote for the best pizza in Monroe too. We do not get to eat out during the week very often but this week we celebrated the kids really good grades on their report cards.  The oldest is in 6th grade, middle in Kindergarten and the 2 year old is in Preschool. I had heard from several clients that work in "Uptown Charlotte" that their favorite lunch spot was a small pizza place. I have been to FUEL Pizza many times and always enjoy it when the kids have a day off of school and we get to go visit Daddy for lunch. Since we actually live in Monroe, driving Uptown for pizza is just not an option.   A couple months back A Pie in the Sky opened up a couple miles from our house. The oldest had been told by ...

My family has lived in the Union County, NC  area for almost 7 years now. We had lived in Charlotte for a couple years before that. My hubby has asked several times over the last few years about wanting to see why the parking lot of Mac's Restaurant was always full of cars. A couple weeks back my parents invited us to dinner. Since we were ahead of them we just decided to stop in and see what all the fuss was about. The menu was full of seafood, chicken, BBQ and good comfort food. I wish I had just shared a plate with one of the kids. The hush puppies and fish that I had were amazing. The kids loved the chicken and fries. My hubby dined on their pulled BBQ and cole slaw and loved it. Then there was the dessert menu. The have several flavors of their own homemade ice cream. The flavors c...

My daughter turned 6 yesterday. She is having a birthday party next weekend and I had her teacher put the invites in her classmates folders at school on Wednesday of this week. I did not put my email for RSVP purposes on all of the invites. I got a couple RSVPs by email and then realized that I had made that error. I quickly sent a mass email to the other 20 parents telling them to feel free to email me for a quick RSVP. In my defense, it would be easier to track that way too. Not two minutes after I sent that email I got a call from one of the parents. She introduced herself as "So and So's Mommy". The next thing out of her mouth was, "I need you to sell my house. We live in your neighborhood and another broker has had our house on the market for right at a year now. He has shown it on...

Myers Meadows in Monroe NC—Homes for Sale and Neighborhood Profile Myers Meadows is a classic Union County NC neighborhood.  The lots are generous and the homes are full brick.  It’s a great neighborhood to find a brick ranch on a level lot. Located on both sides on Myers Road in Monroe NC, Myers Meadows has two sections.  One was built in the early to late 1990s.  The other side has newer homes built after 2000.  Homes range in size from approximately 1300 square feet to over 2000 square feet.  Pricing ranges from the $130,000s to over $200,000. The large lots and quiet location off Myers and Rocky River roads give the neighborhood a country feel.  City convenience is just a mile or two away along Highway 74 in Monroe and Indian Trail, where big box retailers, restaurants and health ca...

My baby started a two day Preschool program this week. He is two years old and boy was he super excited. I would say even more so than this brother who is in Middle School.  The older brother has been back in school in Union County Public Schools since the end of August like the rest of the county, but the Preschools all start the Day after Labor Day in our area. For the last several weeks since the older kids have been in school I have had to tell him, "You go to school Someday Soon". I dropped him off at school and he ran inside, past the teacher and with hardly a second thought he said, "Bye Mommy, I go to School someday". What do you think? BTw...in the interest of full disclosure, the older one found these shirts to "First Day of School" wear. Need to buy, sell, rent or know someon...

All I have to say is PRICE  is the only thing that matters right now. You could have the nicest house in the best neighborhood and if it is not priced right, then it will sit on the market. There are over 27,000 homes on the market in the Charlotte Metro area. With that amount of inventory, the only thing that matters is the PRICE. Did I already mention that? I can't remember but I think it is important. There is something to be said about how banks are marketing their homes. For the most part, they are not cleaning them up, painting, putting in new carpet or anything else that is cosmetic. What is the one thing that is making their listings attractive and sell quickly? It is PRICE! They are creating an excitement by listing the home well below market value and that is causing the buyer...

I got the strangest phone call from my newest seller yesterday. Here is how it went: "Hey Lisa, this is Mr. Seller. Did my house sell over the weekend?" I could only respond with, "If it did, I have no idea since I did not negotiate offers from the beach." He then went on to tell me that he had driven by the house, (it is a rental that has a current tenant) and that the magnetic SOLD signs were on the yard sign. I told him that I would drive out there and take care of it. Upon my arrival, I got to speak to the tenant. I asked her how long the SOLD sign had been on the yard sign. She said that it had been on there since the day that we put it on the market. I asked her how that was possible. She said, "I found the SOLD sign in the driveway and put it on the sign." I almost didn't know wh...
