Open Houses do not work here...they feed the hungry Realtors. But it does please the sellers to think that we are bringing in folks..   Haveing just walked  back from a walk around the neighborhood and noticed 2 open houses.  Balloons, signs , flages and freshly mowed lawns are so inviting.. There cookies inside?  Full Lunch with Tea and Fresh lemonade perhaps? o Are open houses obsolete? Good Sellers today!   I have been fortunate enough to work face to face with sellers today.  I had listed one of their lots and they were going to take it off the market.  I did some research for them and suggested that they leave that lot on the market...because it can't sell if no one knows it is for sale.. They then asked to see if I would list one of their other lots.  They are excited to sell and we priced it at the lowest price in the community. Today, my family is celebrating my birth.  I have had cards and gifts and baloons and cakes from family an friends.. Makes me feel so good. Sometime I wonder what I have done to receive such warm greetings.  I just try to do the right thing. Jimmy..the love of my life,  took me on a Helicopter ride. Re-blogged by 0 agents       HOA seem to have too much power.. Have you ever heard of a condo association foreclosing on a condo and then buying it with dues of the owners? We are having something like that going on here and I do not know who to go to for help.  I can't help but think that this is wrong.  Have rules changed....if they have, I feel that human decency has eluded us. I have great concern for the folks that lost their unit even though they were trying to work out a payment schedule with the association.   I am doubting the legality of this..   Do you have any suggestions?       08/19/2013

I am finding that there are less and less REO's and BPO's being offered in my area.  And when they are offered, they are offering a small fee to do the work.  If we accepted these fees, I would be losing money. I think I need to make contact with some other ones to see what is out there. Do you have any suggestions?  The market is picking up here locally and maybe it is time to let the BPO'S and REO's go..   What do you think?         08/17/2013

                        I do know that I have never been successful in posting a video and I am not sure that I have it right now but this is my try.   The Challenge is to do a video on anything local, fun and outdoors.   The first video that I did was on making huge Bubbles with the Grandchildren.  I made my own bubble stuff and then made the wand. I am enjoying doing this.  You have to think about things and sometimes that is good, sometimes it is painful..but here goes.   10 things about me from the Present.   I love being married to Jimmy Harper.  He is my soul mate and best friend. I am doing the contest that is the brain child of our Ambassador Debbie Reynolds.  She is so delightful with such great ideas.   This post is about me and my past..(That does sound ominous) First of all I am a Tar Heel, born is a tiny town in North Carolina in Bladen County  There are about 150 people that lived in Tar Heel when I was born.. I felt like I belonged when I lived there.. I saw John F Kennedy in 1961 in Little Washington NC.  He was in a motorcade with police all around him. My little brother  was given pins with JFK on them and he took them to school and sold them for nickel apiece.  (I still have 2 or 3 of them) I have traveled around the world since 1992.  WE have been to places that you only dream about  or have read about in books.  Next March, we will travel around th... 08/12/2013

Last night, My hubby and I decided that we needed to clean out the freezer in order to put more Blueberries in from this bountiful Blueberry season of 2013.    Finding that we still had not used about 2 gallons of our blueberries from past years, I decided that we must can them in order to not just throw them away.    That is exactly what we did.  I put the Blueberries in two large stainless steel pots and added Sugar...and the squeeze of a lemon and a bit of butter, and let them cook for hours..   Then we processed these berries in small jars for future use.   Had to try the concoction that we created and found that we had mastered, what I would call, Blueberry Preserves.  They are absolutely delicious  and will work well on  Vanilla Ice cream, Biscuits, Rolls and even cornbread.  What... 08/11/2013

"It's a prince! On Monday, the world welcomed the newest addition to the royal family and the future heir to England's throne. Getting ready to close on a house today and there was food left in the cabinets that is unopened and bought recently.   There were canned goods, salt and pepper, oils, spices and other things that were perfectly good. Do you think it is alright to give it to a food pantry, or church or salvation army to distribute to other that may be hungry.  I hate to just throw it away.  What would you do? The festivities have started.  It is a rainy start to the 4th and has cancelled the Beach Day on Oak Island this year and the firework. It is the first time that I ever remember that happening. There are bands playing on the waterfront..as we speak.  They are bands from all over. Have you ever heard of the Embers?  They will be here for the fireworks on the 4th. The park is set up with crafts from all over.  They folks are showing their finest.  You can get some really great buys in the park. Wow...It seems like to long since I have had a Friday  off.  I am going to take it today.  The 4th of July is a special thing here in Southport NC.  It is the official 4th of July Parade for the state of North Carolina.. In getting ready for the 4th, which will be not stop-- for the next week..I really needed a break. Tomorrow, there is a fireman's competition.  This is where the neighboring fire departments come together and do a competition.  There will be a  winning department at the  end of the day.  All the little ones love seeing the firemen dressed out in their fire fighting uniforms.  It is good to know that they are prepared to help save our homes and our lives..   Hope you have a wonderful 4th of July too.   Will be sharing more with you this week.   Ginger 06/28/2013

Southport Host the Official 4th of July Parade.. Last year, we were filming the Stephen King movie, "Safe Haven".  It was an exciting time for all of us that live in Southport. I just want to tell you a bit about the 4th of July in Southport NC. WE have the privilege  of hosting the official 4th of July Parade right here....in our small quaint community of Southport. This community of about 5,000 folks becomes a metropolis of about 100,000 folks.  There are food vendors on the streets, selling anything you would ever want to think of eating. There is live entertainment in the park and The Embers are always a favorite...There is always Dancin' in the Streets. I will try to get you a schedule when they come out. Andrea has left us but she left behind 5 inches of sweet rain.  This rain will help our garden to grow.    Living in the Southeastern part of North Carolina, we see a lot of turbulent weather during this time of the year.  But what a joy to see the rain come in and water the precious seeds that we plant in our garden. This year our garden is growing with Butterbeans, peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, sweet potatoes,  squash, cantaloupe  sunflowers.  It is absolutely glorious to see this happening right before our very eyes.
