February 29th found Tarheel Realty II at the Statesville Country Club on Deauville Rd. greeting and honoring it's past clients at the first annual Client Appreciation Party.   Clients and sponors were enthralled with the enthusiasm and western theme presented to them that evening at 7:30.   All the realtors of Tarheel pulled together and decorated the country club with western decor brought from their personal homes.  Some of the items on hand were a Meadowbrook cart, picture spot complete with fencing, saddles, lariats, etc., cowhide wall hanging, steer skulls, old-time oil lanterns, and all the realtors dressed in western wear.  The clients joined in the fun dressed in western wear and danced to the live local band.   Barbeque was served as the evenings fare to complete the theme.  ...

The City of Statesville has around 26,000 people in it.  It is at the crossroads of two major interstates.  It is surrounded on three sides by very large cities.  This makes Statesville an excellent place to live.   Just think about it.   You can live in a city with very little traffic, quiet, peaceful neighborhoods and commune with people who still stop and say hello.  It takes all of 15 minutes to drive to Mooresville and about 20 minutes to get to Lake Norman.  30 minutes you are at the "Furniture Capitol" of North Carolina in Hickory, 40 minutes and you are in Charlotte or Winston-Salem.  How perfect can that be?  Live in a peaceful community with just a short commute for those days when you feel like some major shopping or entertainment.  We do have cultural arts, fine dining and a...

Daily routines are a natural fiber of life.  Where did I hear that?  But it is true.  I wake up every morning to the sound of our cats meowing to be fed, our dogs barking to be fed and our horses nickering for their morning feeding.  I slowing and carefully clamber out of bed to avoid the pain in my feet from years of running in half marathons and make my way to the kitchen for that ever wakeful cup of coffee.  Our two tabbies race to the kitchen looking at me as if asking what is taking me so long.  Can't I see they are there already?  Izzy and Jack dance and twist waiting to get out of their kennels to go outside after being cooped up 8 hours.  Dashing out the door Izzy stops dead just outside the threshold and barks for me to follow him. But I'm not dressed for 29 degree weather and ...

That all depends upon how much you want to take upon yourself to get done.  Staging can be expensive if you hire a stager to rent or buy furniture, blinds, drapes and plants to put in an empty home to give it that comfortable lived in look.  BUT, you can do three simple tricks to get your house staged. 1) Clear your home of clutter.  Clear off countertops, tables, desks and put the clutter in storage. 2)  Clean everything in sight and behind closed doors.  Bring in a professional cleaner to scrub from top to bottom and clean out the garage.   Clean the outside of debris, grass clippings, fallen limbs, pressure wash the siding, sidewalks, driveway and clean the gutters. 3) Color can bright a room quicker that 100 watt bulbs in your light fixures.  Paint the entire inside a nuetral soft c...

There are a lot of homes on the market today and it is a well know fact that unless your are buying a home to flip, rent or some other investment potential, the home that looks like you just walked into House Beautiful is the one that will sell the quickest and with the best price.  Here are several tips any home owner can use to make their house look better and sell faster.1)  Landscaping: Keep your front lawn neat, tidy and watered (when there are no water restrictions of course).  Color and flowers make a good first impression.2) Curb Appeal:  Keep the lawn mowed, the gutters cleaned, the shrubs trimmed.  Edging goes a long way to making a lawn look professionally manicured.3) Fencing: Replace or repair broken areas, touch up paint or repaint for a fresh, new look.  Economical repair...

I believe that home staging is very important in todays competetive market.  When buyers walk into a house there should be nothing left to the imagination!  Rooms should be clutter free and defined.  If you use your dining room for anything other than a dining room, define it as a dining room for your buyers.  Remove all personal items from your decor, this creates a more "Model Home" atmosphere instead of buyers feeling like they are actually in someone elses home.More advice coming soon!  Visit my website for helpful home staging tips www.chastitygaither.com

Short, sweet, and to the point is how I write. Upfront and honest is how I work. Real Estate is a very rewarding but complicated business. My wish would be that all brokers care for their clients in a way that would make all consumers truly understand how hard we work for the money! Diligence and communication take a tremendous amount of time. Their is huge value provided in working with a Realtor!

When I moved here back in 1992 from the "big town" of Charlotte, NC I thought I was doing a great service to my kids by moving them to a small town where everybody knows everybody else.  Man, what a mouth full!  Having been raised in a small town back in Missouri I knew that there would be greater pressure on the kids to keep their noses clean and get into less trouble.  I knew that neighbors and acquaintences would let me know what my kids were up to when my back was turned.   Boy was I right!!  So in my opinion Statesville is the greatest little town in North Carolina.   But wait!  Where is this great town with some of the nicest people around?  Located at the crossroads of Interstate 40 and Interstate 77, just 40 minutes north of Charlotte, 30 minutes east of Hickory and 40 minutes w...

The Top Ten Reasons to live in Statesville, NC    I have lived in Statesville since 1992.   We first moved here from north Charlotte to get away from the "city-life" in order to raise our three children in a small town atmosphere.   Since both of us were raised in small towns we were well attuned with having neighbors who watched out for each other.   That to me was the number one reason to live in Statesville, North Carolina.   Reason Number One:   The People!  The first time I drove through Statesville, NC in 1985 I was quite impressed with its beauty and serenity.   The layout of the town, the historic district and the quaint downtown area were just right for me.  But most importantly was the kindness of the people who lived here.   Everyone I met always had a smile, waved or had a k...

PICS FROM 2006 If you want to see an amazing thing, then come to the balloonfest. It started in 1974 in Statesville. It is now the 2nd oldest balloon rally in the US! I went last year with my dad and was hoping to help the RE/MAX balloon pilot, but the winds were so high that we didn't get it up. Some balloons lit up and flew off but it was too dangerous. Hopefully, they won't have weather problems this year! Food, Live Bands, Balloon competitions, and lots of kid things to do here. Some of the best pilots in the nation attend this every year!!! The wine tasting was great (you get to keep the glass too). There are over 62 wineries that have tastings here, so bring your money!  I got to eat a fried snickers bar (yes, fried), and a steamed corn cob dipped in butter. I am telling you th...
