The dining room at Whispering Pines Country Club is now being managed by the Ironwood Cafe and it's owner, Vince Continenza.  The restaurant is now called Woody's and they are doing a great job.  The menu is similar to Ironwood, except for the fact that there is a lot more "comfort food" available at Woody's - and it's excellent.  We ate there tonight and the service was just as good as the food.  They had a pretty good sized crowd.  Whispering Pines finally has a fine dining restaurant after all these years.  I highly recommend the trip out to WPCC to have dinner at Woody's.  Call 910-949-3000 for reservations and to make sure they are open.  I am not sure about their hours, although I know that they are open on Friday and Saturday nights in addition to some other nights of the week.  ... 12/06/2008

The Whispering Pines area is experiencing a slight buyer's market. The Whispering Pines Village limits include the subdivisions of Whispering Pines, Whispering Woods, Whispering Winds, Princess Gate, Royal Woods Way, Arrowstone and Newberry Ridge. There is significant new construction in Whispering Pines which has helped hold the overall average prices up.  Queens Cove and Village of Blue Farm are subdivisions close to the Village of Whispering Pines. Average sold prices have decreased slightly in these areas. There was one new construction home that sold for over the asking price which pushed the sold to list price percentage to 100%. I love it when I give my mailing address to someone over the phone. I get to the city and say Whispering Pines.  Invariably, it elicits some kind of reaction, particular if the phone center is onshore, about how pretty, or peaceful or pleasant that sounds.  I want to tell you-they don't know the half of it.  Whispering Pines, North Carolina has to be one of world's best places to live.  Originally conceived as a golf community, much of it meanders around now three golf courses, and eight, or maybe it's nine, lakes.  Residents who live on the lakes are permitted to draw irrigation water from the lakes, part of the original plan.  For the most part the landscaping is well established, which allows for gorgeous drives during azalea/dogwood season in the spring, and plenty of shady strolls ... 08/28/2008
