Posted by Debra Worley - email WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Soon, area homeowners will have another person on their side, fighting to keep their homes from going into foreclosure. North Carolina has experienced a tremendous increase in foreclosures, which often leaves homeowners feeling helpless. Now, free help is on the way for those in financial need. December 10, the State Foreclosure Prevention Project will be training Wilmington attorneys on foreclosure counseling and loan re-negotiation. Lawyers say they're looking forward to being able to better advise the community. "It's important for me to try to help and take care of my local citizens. I mean, we're all part of the same community and you know a few hours of my time spent to try to help someone you know pro bono, I think is well wo...

Local officials met today to endorse the possibility of the new Air Force One Museum being built in Wilmington, NC. Howie Franklin, a local resident, is on the board of the search committee. Mr. Franklin previously served all  5 previous presidents as their coordinator for all flights and details for each activity planned for Air Force One. Due to his experience Mr. Franklin was selected for this committee. Other locations, besides Wilmington are also being considered. The Wilmington location would be in an area near Kerr and Randall Parkway on a plot of land owned by the state DOT. Wilmington was chosen since it was the first state for air flight. The Wright brothers paved the way for this great opportunity. The museum will be built somewhere in NC. What a tourist coup for the winni...

6 days from today is when we're going to dance.  "What dance are you talking about, Paul? (you may ask).  It's the 100 Day Dance.  The Dance that will excite us to the point that we all make more money.  The Dance that will rise and fall as we continue to struggle with this depressed housing market and challenging economy.  The Dance that will move us from 2008 to 2009 and will build our business through networking, coaching, proactive activities and blogging.  What I'm talking about is the group "100 Days to Change".  If you're ready to Dance then come join our group.  The countdown starts in 6 days.  Keep looking up!

I began doing real estate just over 2 years ago and I've been told that I got in at the wrong time.  I'm tired of all the negativity on the news in regards to the economic status of the country and the declining housing market.  Personally, I'm ready to change my current financial situation.  I've created a group where we can coach each other.  What we are doing is setting a goal of "100 Days to Change".  I've got the support of other real estate professionals who want CHANGE too.  What we are going to do are various proactive activities which will propel our business.  Every day I will reach out to individuals in my group and provide direction.  By working as a group I believe that we can provide support to each other and coach ourselves to CHANGE.  If you would like to be a part of th...

...Not ActiveRain but the rain that is washing away any hopes of our Holiday Flotilla.  http://www.ncholidayflotilla.org/ParadeDetails/Overview/tabid/68/Default.aspx I blogged a few days ago about, "What is a Flotilla?" and I would like to thank all that responded with educated and hilarious answers.  Our Holiday Flotilla is celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year and it looks as it will go down in the record books as a soggy one.  The Holiday Flotilla always brings excitement not only to my family but to all in the Wrightsville Beach Community.  We hold the festive parade of boats the following Saturday after Thanksgiving.  It's a way of kicking off the Christmas Season while all the families are in town for Thanksgiving. Yesterday evening I met Debbie Prachel, Realtor from Advance,...

Yesterday was quite disappointing as a wonderful deal slipped away from me.  I've been helping investors scoop up foreclosed real estate here in the Wilmington, NC area.  Yesterday, I learned that you can't drag your heels when submitting an offer.  As the 4th quarter of the fiscal year for banks draws to a close they are wasting no time in clearing their books of REOs.  Lesson Learned!  Get those offers to purchase in as soon as possible for all REOs.

I recently attended my local Home Builders Assoc. Installation Banquet for the new officers.  This was a very nice dinner with many different speakers.  The one that caught my attention and the attention of everyone in the room was an older gentlemen who has been a builder for over 40 years.  His speech was geared around how to survive a down market and to come out on the end better than you went into it.  He talked about how he started building homes in the early 60's after he got out of the Army.  He went through the many ups and downs he had in his personal and business life.  He matched up those hard times to what was going at that point in the national and global economy as well.  One of the key points that I took away from his emotional and moving speech was that every hard time s...
