Curbside Christmas Tree Pickup in Pinehurst NC   Yes, it is official, Christmas has left the building...so to speak. (I'm personally leaving my Christmas Tree up until this weekend.) The Village of Pinehurst will be collecting Christmas Trees 'curbside' on a weekly basis, starting this week through February 1, 2012. CORN MAZE near Pinehurst NC | Gross Farms   The farm in Moore County that usually has a Corn Maze isn't doing it this year...sorry, I don't know why.  But, I did find one close to Pinehurst and it is a short drive North to the Sanford area!  About a 30-40 minute drive. AUTUMN + APPLES = PIE| FRIDAY FOTOS | 9/23/11     It smells like Apple Pie in my house on this First Day of Autumn!!! North Carolina is home to many Apple Orchards... many of them in the Western part of the state, but we have some around Pinehurst, too! The apples I used today are called "Arkansas Blacks" and they are an heirloom variety from Ken Chappell's Farm just 15 minutes outside of Pinehurst. They are tart & dense when picked, but sweeten with age. I mixed in a few Granny Smith's, too. All my apples came from my produce box which I get bi-weekly as a Member of the Sandhills Farm to Table Cooperative 'Neighbors Feeding Neighbors'. 09/23/2011
