Talk about FUN! That's exactly what Savanna and I do (we talk about fun). Just talking to Savanna was a lot of fun. I think it's great that Collegiate Baseball is back in Minot for another year. As a neighbor to Corbett Field I can tell you that it used to be that I'd see about 20 people in the seats at Corbett field UNTIL The Sabre Dogs showed up. Now when the dogs play it's not unusual to see 1,000 people in the stands. What a thrill to see our Historic ball park come back to life! This is the kind of thrill our parents and grand parts got many years ago in Minot ND. This is FAMILY fun! It may be hard to believe but Corbett Field has become "Thee" hot spot for teen as well as the whole family for the summer. Minot Today is broadcast over two radio stations every Friday. You can find i...

Today is the day I start a week answering the phone for our Spring fundraiser to help keep Christian radio on the air. Most of you know it's truly a labor of love for me to do this. If you want to make a one time pledge of $10.00 or more to help out give me a call (701) 852-3789.So WHY do we have a Spring and Fall Sharathon? We are a FAMILY friendly radio station and as such we do not accept advertising from liquor or gambling establishments. If we did accept advertising from those sources we could increase our income by approximently by 20%. Instead we ask our listeners to partner with us to make up for the short fall.I'd love to tell KHRT listeners that an out of State friend of mine called in to throw $10.00 of support for Christian radio in Minot ND.

The North Dakota State Fair has set it's line up for this summers BIG event. I LOVE the fact that the North Dakota State Fair is held every year less then a mile away from my home. I love the excitement it brings. Here are the 2019 headliners.I live close enough I don't have to pay to hear these acts but of course seeing them is another story. There is a fair chance I'll go see Rick Springfiedls, Eddie Money, & Greg Kihn. Heck! I didn't even know Rick and Eddie were still alive.

If you think rock art is Velvet Elvis or weird album covers you need a little educating from Linda Olson, Professor of Studio Arts at Minot State University. I could not believe how fast the time went on this subject.  Linda tells us about some local (ND rock) at and more. BTW the proper names for rock art are petroglyph (art carved into rock), pictograph (art painted unto rock), and petroform or geoglyph (art made from rock). We also talk about fiber arts. Again, just to clarify, fiber arts involve fiber... not fiber optics.

I am so excited! I just came from a trip to our local record store, Budget Music, and out on the counter they had the latest issue of VINYL TIMES (issue 2.3).This is a great magazine for us audiophiles that loved buying albums and equipment back in the 70's.This magazine has it all. Want to know what is being re-released on vinyl? Do you want to know what cool NEW equipment is available today. Do you want stories about the artists you grew up with (or for some of you the artists your grandma loved)? One of my favorite features is the old unusual stereo gadgets of the past. Here is one being re-released.

Imagicon 2019, coming right up.There back! SiFi fans can celebrate April 26 - 28th as Imagicon returns to The Magic City. It's outgrown the convention center where it has been held for years and now the gathering point is the Minot Municipal Auditorium.Did you ever wish every year had two halloweens? Well now it does. Put on your mask and act insane... no one is going to know who the heck you are under that storm troopers mask. This should be a really good time. I hope I can get there with my camera so I can share the fun.

One of my favorite forms of art is quilting. I don't practice the art myself but I love seeing the inovative designs the artists who do quilt come up with. If you are in Minot today, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday you may want to take in some of the many quilting opportunities being offered. This is my 4th post over the years I've been blogging about quilting. Here are links to the other 3 posts, two of which include radio interviews with Chelce Detert.Real Men Quilt 11/30/2018Meet Chelce Detert 03/01/2018Quilt Auction 03/05/2011

Here I am, doing another Arts interview. Why? Because I love the Arts. As I've said before: Artists have an eye for God's beautiful creation and each in their own individual way want to highlight or imitate Linda Olson has a GREAT eye for art and loves to teach art to students of all ages. She is close to retiring as a professor at Minot State University but even when she does retire she won't be giving up her favorite art, the ceramic arts, or teaching (as she has just built a beautiful studio off of her home so she can continue her work). I hope you enjoy our visit as much as I did. Minot Today is broadcast over two radio stations every Friday. You can find it on 106.9 FM at 12:15 (Noonish) and again at 4:45 on 1320 AM. Of course I always post the broadcast as a Podcast here as well ...

Over the last few days the snow has relinquished it's 6 month hold on Minot's Streets ( I wish I could say that was true for the rest of the landscape that is still buried at least two to six feet under) and revealed it's annual yield of pot holes. Some are quite sizable and I'm sure are keeping automotive centers that do wheel alignments busy. With only a few days of temps above freezing (and barely above freezing at that) it's to soon to get the City street repair crews out there to fill them in.So be careful when your driving and also think about that car behind you before you slam on the breaks or the car next to you when you swerve to miss one of these creators. We don't need to give the repair shops to much work after they have had a banner winter I'm sure. The websites and the artis...

Give me a map and I can get there. You and I both want our clients to "find us" in order to do business with us. Why not make it as simple as you can?I've found that even when I'm dealing with local people they want more then a street address from me so I often tell them it's right downtown, kitty corner from "The Gourmet Chef" or just South of Gideon's Trumpet.I've decided to put the picture to the right in my phones photo gallery so when people text me for directions I can say "it's in this building kitty corner from "The Gourmet Chef" or just South of Gideon's Trumpet.Once inside the entry to the building there is a directory giving the suite numbers associated with the tenents but with my office being as far from the front door as you can get (yet on the same floor) I've added severa...

I can't say that I've figured out a magic date to start plants in the house to be transferred later into the garden here in North Dakota but I'm thinking now might be a good time. I've tried as early as the first day that the sun starts it's swing back towards longer days... that was a disaster. You don't want to start to early or your plants just get tall and spindly, then fall over and die.We are probably two months from the garden actually being ready for planting. Currently there is about two feet of snow on the ground and the frost is most likely down close to six feet below the surface. All of that adds up to planting indoors now and also some re-potting in about thirty days. So why do it? With our short growing season it's nice to get a head start so we can enjoy what we plant l...

I'm NOT talking about plumbing.I'm not really refering to the shoes either, I'm talking about dancing. Karen Hamilton and Jackie Harvey have teamed up to open "The Clogging Place" in Minot ND. Karen & Jackie were part of a performance team in Minot and when the leader of that team started talking about closing down the team they decided that Clogging must live on in Minot. Karen & Jackie want to teach the art and fun of clogging with the emphasis on FUN and not on being part of a performance team. The Clogging Place is located at 1401 4th Street SW Minot in the lower level of the Living Waters Family Worship Center. Clogging is not to hard to learn, not even for a old guy like me, and it's a fantastic cardio workout. I'm going to give it a try just to help me loose a few of the extra po...

Kay Eaton left the nursing field 20 years ago to start a Christian book store. With no retail experience she learned as she went along... including the fact that a Christian book store ought to have Bibles on the shelf. Gideon's Trumpet is a favorite with our family (and not just because our daughter worked for Kay). Gifts from Gideon's trumpet are special because they reflect our faith and our family is based on our faith in God. Minot Today is broadcast over two radio stations every Friday. KHRT radio has a very consumer friendly website. This is the 1st in a series about it. Two area's of the site I want to visit about today are the FREE Classified Ads page and the Business Directory. The free classifieds ads page is very underused so if you have anything you would like to sell it will get NOTICED, not buried like other free advertising pages. These ads also get mentioned on the "Trade- E_-O" show at 9:30 Friday on the AM Radio side. All ads are approved prior to appearing on the website and no commercial ads are accepted. The other page I wanted to mention is the Business Directory. All KHRT advertisers are listed on this page and are linked to their own websites. KHRT radio listeners are very dedicated to the KHRT ministry and they support KHRT sponsors. As a former Rea...

There are no limitations on the minimum age for having a signature notarized. The standard of law is whether or not the signer is signing the document willingly and freely. In short, does the signer understand what the document is that they are signing and do they sign it voluntarily without coercion or duress? NOTE: Minor children are generally held immune from entering contractual obligations until they reach the legal age. Being a minor child might not be legally bound to the document he/she signs; a notarization of the signature would have little consequence in law either way.

A high temp of -1 below zero doesn't bother most North Dakotians' but when you add a constant wind speed of 25 Mph and gusts much higher it even gets the attention of the sturdiest of men.My 1st reaction was typical... Oh Crap! As I looked out the window this afternoon and watched the bare trees blow in the wind I really started to think about what an awesome day it really is. It's hard to picture or video "cold" but I think you get the picture from this short video. I start out with the flags at the Roosevelt Park Zoo and until I saw this video (as opposed to taking the video) I didn't realize you could see the traffic lights also blowing in the wind. When it's 40 some below zero you also don't expect to see leafless trees swaying in the wind. Even though the sun is not very high in th...

Weekends just don't get any BIGGER than this coming March 16th and 17th in Minot ND. 3 BIG events that will surely fill all the Hotel/Motel rooms and pack the restaurants over the weekend. 1) The Boys Class B Basketball Tournament is in town. About 95% of North Dakota's schools fall into the class B category. Students, parents, close relatives and those 20 times removed will be coming to Minot for this tournament. 2) The Abrahamson Rodeo & Rodeo School will be in town for Magic City Madness. Ye Ha! What a great time for participants, observers, and photographers like myself. 3) Volleyball! Minot Rec Commissions 29 Annual Volleyball Tournament. The biggest open volleyball tournament in the State will be here this weekend as well. These are NOT school teams, these are open teams much like...

The word WITNESS brings up all kinds of images in our heads but for a Notary Public it's usually one of three ways that the term is applied. Is the common term "witness" the same as the term a Notary Public would use? Yes to some extent. For notaries it's one of three things: 1) Witnesses to wills and powers of attorney are called "signature witnesses" The legal role they play is to be present when the signer ads his/her name to the document. In this case witnesses also sign the document. 2) On a witness Jurat their job is to witness to the signers identity. A credible witness confirms a signers identity much the same as a document (like a drivers license) would. Credible witnesses are a greater form of identity verification than a printed ID because a real person is personally confirmin...

Notaries do not notarize documents, we notarize signatures on documents. While this may sound like "splitting hairs" the truth is the document is 100% irrelevant to the notarization. If you want something notarized because you think it will give credibility to the document itself you are wrong. The notarization only attests that the persons signature on the document is the person who showed the notary satisfactory evidence that he/she is the person who signed it.

What's Up Buttercup? That's what Sally K. & David L. Hanson want to know as a challenge this month: The BEST Challenge to be Your Best ! It made me think of The Champs, "What's Up Buttercup". Don't remember The Champs? They are best known for TEQUILA! (Which may be my next stop.)The challenge is to tell about a new "habit" you are making in 2019 that will make a difference for you and others for the better (I think). Hope I got that right. My challenge may sound self centered on the surface but I know it is not. I and my son Timmothy have joined a club called Publish or Parish. I've posted about it twice now. My first post was about the first meeting we attended on 2/09/2019. The second post was about my first two pages of writing that I brought to the club to be critiqued. The club has be...
