This plaque was cast prior to the 2011 flood which was much more devastating than the 1969 flood. Several homes were lost in 2011 and some out of State contractors came here to make a fast buck and flipped homes in a very shoddy fashion. Thank God there are still many of the original homes standing and have been restored in a loving fashion. I was told that Eastwood Park was the original "Doctor's Neighborhood" of Minot but I'll do a little more research on it. Here are several of the beautiful homes in Eastwood Park, Minot's only Historical District. This neighborhood neighbors my own and we are both in the same GREAT school district, Sunnyside. We both also boarder Roosevelt Park. The Northern boarder of Eastwood Park is Central Aveune in Minot which gives it excellent walk-ability in...

The church I attend, Our Saviors Lutheran (LC-MS) is holding a two day rummage sale and German food festival. You all know how much I love a rummage sale but being of German decent I'm actually more excited about the food than the rummage (and yet I'm very excited about the rummage sale as well). The cook at our Day Care is very well know for here culinary skills so this ought to a very delicious time. The adult mission trip mentioned is an annual trip to build housing in one of the poorest parts of Mexico. Here is a link to a radio interview I did two years ago about the trip.

I found visiting with Andy Carter, Athletic Director for the Minot State University Beavers, very inspirational and quite frankly I can't wait for our next interview when we talk some football. It's easy to see why Andy Carter motivates his coaching staff, his players, and all of us fans as well. This is the conclusion of my on air discussion with Andy Carter, Minot State University Athletic Director. That being said I still left about 10 minutes of tape on the floor so if you want to hear the entire, totally unedited version it to is posted on Podomatic.

This will be the 6th year I've posted about my absolute favorite Minot ND Social Event, the Great Tomato Festival. This is the 30th year of this fabulous event and I wouldn't miss it for the world. While I'd only rate the food as "very good" the social aspect of it all is off the chart fun. Here is a video I took from last years event. The Great Tomato Festival is a benefit event for the Minot Public Library, the Taube Museum of Art, and the Minot Symphony Orchestra. The event keeps growing and last years attendance was well over 1,000. Being my best friend was the Minot Public Library's director for 30 some years I've been a volunteer at the Great Tomato Festival as long as I've known him (and of course I've dragged my wife into it as well by volunteering her labor as well). Truth be to...

08/04/2018This week there were 15 homes sold (closed) in this very narrow category of stick built, single family homes located in the City limits of Minot. A look at the Red chart below shows there were 38 closings overall to include all properties in our MLS. Of the homes that closed this week the average days on market was 978 compared to last weeks 90 days. Over all homes sold slower and for less money per square foot this week. The chart above is the total MLS activity for the week. This includes ALL types of properties as well as all cities in our MLS. The chart below is very restrictive as explained below.Be sure to note the line above as this is a very restrictive report. There were 15 homes sold in this limited category. The most expensive home sold for $650,000. and it was on t...

Moving to Minot, consider Central South East Minot. If you are looking for a modestly priced home ($120,000 to $200,000) in a decent and safe neighborhood you would be wise to consider South East Central Minot. Most of the homes in this neighborhood are around 1,000 Sq'. The original homes were build in the 30's and some of those homes were rebuilt again in 1970 and some again in 2012 due to "100 year" floods. Obviously there are newer homes sprinkled throughout the neighborhood because of those who chose to tear down flood damaged homes and build new.The elementry school of our neighborhood is Sunnyside Elementry School. Our children attended Sunnyside and LOVED it. As parents we LOVED it. Sunnyside has a wonderful caring staff, in fact the principal, Mrs Cindy Cook, won North Dakota P...

By this time of year it's typical to see algae on most bodies of water in North Dakota. Some algae is dangerous and if you are like me you may not have a clue as to if the algae you see is dangerous or not. I took the picture below on a fishing dock on the Mouse River in Minot. Even though the water is flowing pretty well at this time there is plenty of algae and on any standing ponds in the City the water is absolutely covered like a thick pea soup. This water could be deadly to humans and pets. Here is a one minute video I found on the subject. I've also found that pretty much every State health department has info on line about the danger of BLUE-GREEN algae like this link.Another reason I bring this up as a Real Estate professional is that there are many such ponds throughout Minot ...

The Tivoli Custom Homes model homes are located on 11th Ave NE just a couple of blocks off of Broadway and just a couple of blocks from Minot State University. I spend a lot of time at the model home located at #9 11th Ave NE and I sit right next to some great windows that face the back yard. I've enjoyed watching deer walk into the yard and lay down to take a nap. Today another family stopped by, mom, dad, and the two kiddo's. Dad opted out of the family photo.

When I revealed my plans to retire from Real Estate to the owner of Tivoli Custom Homes I was very pleased that he asked me to stay on as a "Project Coordinator". This fits in well with my plans and with Tivoli Custom Homes plans as I get to use a beautiful custom home as my office and Tivoli has someone on location at all times in case someone would want to come and get information on what Tivoli can build for them. I am also here to keep the contractors coordinated as they build and complete homes for Tivoli. Here is a quick video I put together for my new position with Tivoli Custom Homes.

I didn't see any of the critters above in the banner but 3 out of 5 of them were with-in a matter of feet from us as our walk was around Roosevelt Park which is just outside of the Roosevelt Park Zoo. I'll skip the flower picks tonight (although I got some for later) and just show you the animal life on the walk. All 3 photos were taken this evening BUT yes that is my backyard bunny.

On my evening walk this lily obviously bloomed just for me so I could show it to you. Truth is I'm always enviouslyof the beautiful lily shots I see here on Active Rain. Roy Kelley always has some amazing shots. This is another photo from one of the gardens in and around The Roosevelt Park and Roosevelt Park Zoo. The Park District does an absolutely amazing job with their gardens and the endless variety of plants they they show us.

Last week I had a couple of enjoyable walks in Minot's two largest parks BUT I also saw disturbing undeniable evidence that Earths impending doom is near. I don't want to be an alarmist but Starbucks beat me to it. The evidence is clear... in just under 80 acres of park land I saw this disturbing site twice: PLASTIC STRAWS!We all know that it's going to lead to this...The MOTHER STRAW looking for her babies, sucking up Earth to find the fate of her baby plastic straws. If you thought the prices at Starbucks was killing us you are wrong! It's their environmental activist attitude that will lead to our doom when MOTHER STRAW hears the cries of her babies from their loneliness as they die off and fade into oblivion... as we will also when we experience Mother Straw's wrath.
