Taube Art Museum Art Sale Thursday About every two years our local Art Museum holds a Art (Rummage) sale. Included this year is vintage woman's clothing. I have purchased many bargains at these sales. Some of my purchases are on my wall at home or in my office and some have been given to Buyers as gifts. I've NEVER failed to find bargains here. Sorry about the short notice as it's Thursday from 4PM to 8PM so get ready to hustle over there with some cash and score BIG.

Ooops, I got out of order with the lessons yesterday.   MINOT REAL ESTATE 101 #7 New Construction    Welcome to Bob Timm’s, National Marketing Realtors, Minot North Dakota Real Estate 101, lesson 7.    The purpose of this ongoing course is not to teach anyone to be a Real Estate genius but to simply help you know the absolute basics about Minot North Dakota Real Estate.   The following map shows Minot’s new construction areas as well as the most densely rebuild area after the flood of 2011.   Area 1. (The Bluffs) This area has been the most popular area in Minot ND over the last 5 years. There is a mix of single family, multifamily, condos, and duplex’s. It’s popularity continues to grow as it is a mix topically and the near future home of The Minot Country Club. This is going to be a ...

MINOT REAL ESTATE 101    Welcome to Bob Timm’s, National Marketing Realtors, Minot North Dakota Real Estate 101, lesson 6.    The purpose of this ongoing course is not to teach anyone to be a Real Estate genius but to simply help you know the absolute basics about Minot North Dakota Real Estate.   The following map shows Minot’s Traffic patterns and then we will discuss their effects on home values.   Minot’s Busiest Streets In Order Broadway (Hwy 83) is Minot’s busiest street. It has little to no housing on it with the exception of a few condos on the very North end.   Burdick Expressway (Hwy 2 Bypass) has few homes on it with the exception of a spattering of homes on the Eastern portion. Homes on Burdick are going to have less resale appeal than homes not located on Burdick.   16th S...

MINOT REAL ESTATE 101 #5 Retail Shopping The following map shows the crude approximate location of Minot’s RETAIL shopping districts.   MINOT REAL ESTATE 101    Welcome to Bob Timm’s, National Marketing Realtors, Minot North Dakota Real Estate 101, lesson 5.    The purpose of this ongoing course is not to teach anyone to be a Real Estate genius but to simply help you know the absolute basics about Minot North Dakota Real Estate.     Obviously owning a home butted right up against a retail outlet is NOT a good thing for your properties value. However being near or having easy access to retail can make your home more attractive to buyers.   The largest and most diverse shopping districts in Minot ND are: The Dakota Square Mall The Down Town Area The South West Crossing   Big Box Super St...

MINOT REAL ESTATE 101    Welcome to Bob Timm’s, National Marketing Realtors, Minot North Dakota Real Estate 101, lesson 4.    The purpose of this ongoing course is not to teach anyone to be a Real Estate genius but to simply help you know the absolute basics about Minot North Dakota Real Estate.   The following map shows the crude approximate location of Minot’s Parks. Being located near a park may enhance a properties value.   It is my opinion that Minot is lacking in the number of neighborhood parks but again, that is just my opinion. I also believe it is very lacking on connected bike paths. That being said let me tell you about the Parks we do have.   The two most popular and largest family parks in Minot are Oak Park and Roosevelt Park & Zoo. A third park that is family friendly a...

MINOT REAL ESTATE 101    Welcome to Bob Timm’s, National Marketing Realtors, Minot North Dakota Real Estate 101, lesson 3.    The purpose of this ongoing course is not to teach anyone to be a Real Estate genius but to simply help you know the absolute basics about Minot North Dakota.   The following map shows the crude approximate location of the Mouse River. You will notice in this map that I added 4th Ave NW & NE. This is because 4th Ave is better in showing the rivers path through town.   Geographically Minot is often described as being in 3 sections: The Valley, North Hill, and South Hill. The description of each section changed dramatically after 2011 and each section is very distinct in the Real Estate world. Each has it’s plus’s and pitfalls.   The Valley. As far a FEMA is conce...

MINOT REAL ESTATE 101    Welcome to Bob Timm’s, National Marketing Realtors, Minot North Dakota Real Estate 101, lesson 2.    The purpose of this ongoing course is not to teach anyone to be a Real Estate genius but to simply help you know the absolute basics about Minot North Dakota.   The following map shows the crude approximate location of Minot Public Schools. Being located near an elementary school has always been a good thing when selling a home (adding to its value). Minot no longer offers “open enrollment” so the district you are in is where you will attend unless you opt for a private school.     The Street location of each school is: ELEMENTRY Bel Air 501 25th Street NW Edison 701 17th Ave SW Head Start 2815 East Burdick Jefferson 3800 11th Ave SE Lewis & Clark 2215 8th Ave N...

MINOT  REAL ESTATE 101 #1    Welcome to Bob Timm’s, National Marketing Realtors, Minot North Dakota Real Estate 101, lesson 1.    The purpose of this ongoing course is not to teach anyone to be a Real Estate genius but to simply help you know the absolute basics about Minot North Dakota Real Estate.   Starting with the following map you will see that I am truly talking basics.     Minot is roughly divided into four sections, North West, North East, South West, and South East.   Every home/business on the North end of Minot has a 58703 address.   Every home/business on the South end of Minot has a 58701 address.   While Minot has a “Main” Street which divides the City as to East and West and while Minot has a “Center” Avenue which divides the City as to North and South people generally ...

GOTTA PERMIT FOR THAT? Before you nail two boards together, twist a couple of wires together, add a water heater, or whatever you will want to check with Mitch Flanagan, The Building Official at The City Of Minot. Mitch is easy to get along with as long as you do things right. The old adage "It's easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission" is not a good plan in Minot ND. Build it first and you may be tearing it down and doing it again. Stop by Mitch's office and do things right. He can be found at 1025 31st Street SE in Minot.

FINDING A CHURCH HOME IN MINOT ND My 4th Attempt At The Post That Won’t Stick   For several days I’ve been trying to tell you about a simple website that may help you find a church home in your community. This site is also great for a long standing member in the community to boast about a church home that they wish you would come visit. The site is simply ChurchFinder.com If you are a Realtor wishing to let others know about the churches in your community ChurchFinder.com has already done the work for you. In the last few days I’ve enjoyed sharing my “church shopping” experiences from when I moved here and why I settled on the church home I did.   It’s a good tool for getting the info out there, it’s a good tool for the consumer, and it’s a good tool for the church as each church can a...

I Can Zoom For $4,426 a Month! I love newspaper/print goofs. I know the late night talk show hosts used to show print errors on a regular basis but I don't stay up that late anymore. However, as much as I love our local newspaper, and I do, they often have errors that make me chuckle. The one below is from today's paper. Not a big error but it made me laugh plus I thought if I circulated on the web I may be helping the City find the person they are looking for. Be sure to ZOOM in and apply today.

CAUSE TO ROCK, Fund raiser for DVCC This is a fund raiser for helping our Domestic Violence Crises Center here in Minot ND. Our community has had a hard time keeping up with all the victims in wake of the flood that caused so much family stress and the oil boom which has brought many people here far from their homes and families. I can not tell you much more than what the poster says BUT I will elaborate on the auction. Auction items are donated and then the proceeds given to the DVCC. Some of the donations include: Our Live Auction items are. Driving In Minot North Dakota Driving in Minot ND has always been and adventure due to our climate, our topography, and due to our drivers. I don't think anyone ever "masters" driving on snow and ice because even us locals get an education every 1st snow of the season. Add into the mix that Minot is in and on top of a river valley so it seems like you are always going up or down a hill. Minot consists of "The Valley", "North Hill", and "South Hill". Each has it's own business district and housing. Throw into the mix that we have an Air Force Base that draws young men and women from places that have never seen snow or freezing rain. The same can be said of many of the oil workers that have flocked to Minot as well. I recently published a quote that said "Most accidents are a result of t...

Oil Prices are Affecting Minot Housing   Wait and see is the attitude most home buyers seem to have in The Minot area with the surprise dip in oil prices of late. With the price per barrel half what it was just a couple of months ago many buyers are proceeding with caution. They may be well rewarded for their caution or it just may bite them in the rear. We are not seeing a drop in the home prices on a per square foot basis yet but we have definitely seen a slower than usual winter in our market. Only 21 homes closed this week, that's not very many in a boom town of 50,000+. There are only 150 single family stick built homes on the market today. The average price of those 150 homes on our MLS is about $315,000. The number of oil rigs are dropping off which is a combination of the oil p...

Subs on Subs??? Sometimes you just want to ask the ridicules questions... like do they eat subs on subs? I will admit that on occasion I get writers block when posting to my blog. When I do I often just go through my large collection of royalty free clip art and see if anything jogs lose a blog post. The above pic did.   So in an effort to be informative the above pic coupled with my Friday night habit leads me to this... FREE PIZZA every Friday from 4PM to 6PM at Sports On Tap. Sports On Tap is located at 220 South Broadway in Minot ND. The pizza is the best in town and they keep bringing up 6 different kinds at a time (mad rush for the first couple of offerings, don't be slow).   Here is a little history on Sports On Tap. The building is pretty much downtown Minot. It used to be the ...

WE'VE GOT A PAIR.... On my Christmas vacation in San Juan TX I saw a highway billboard with the large intro line "We've Got A Pair..." and it certainly caught my attention. Who would say that?             Can they say that? Who was a law firm. If anyone would know if they can say it I'd guess a law firm would know. What else did it say? Underneath two side by side pictures of buildings in much smaller print it said: "Of offices to better serve you." or something like that. OK, the reference was obvious and as somebody who has worked with attorneys in the past I assure you I want an attorney who has "a pair" and I don't mean offices. I'm not being sexist here, the best attorney I've hired had a pair and SHE really kicked ass for me when needed. Where I'm going with this is: Early on in ...

BUILDING PERMITS ARE A GOOD INDICATOR As you can see from the stats above, published in The Minot Daily News and provided by the Minot Building Inspection Office, the building "BOOM" following the oil boom is tapering off. More facts should be considered to come to any logical conclusions.   As a Broker/Owner of a small agency my line of thinking is: Home prices in the Minot ND area are NOT going to drop anytime soon. The market is very tight right now with only about 150 single family homes for sale in a market of 50,000 people. The average price per single family home in Minot is at an all time high of over $320,000. per home. Even though things have slowed down due to lower oil prices and WINTER things always explode in the spring.   In a recent post I encouraged potential Buyers to...
