Welcome to Hollis New Hampshire Deeply rooted in agriculture, Hollis, New Hampshire has grown in recent years.  With its population nearly doubling to 8000 in the past thirty years, Hollis has had to adapt to a changing community.  Many Hollis residents work in Massachusetts but choose to live in tax-free New Hampshire, slowly turning the small farming town into a large bedroom community.  Though agriculture is still a large part of Hollis's charm and character, several farms in the past few years have been purchased by developers in an effort to answer the demand for housing. Hollis owes its beginnings to a 1673 land grant called the Dunstable Grant.  When the land, known simply as Dunstable, was eventually divided, Governor Benning Wentworth named the western division "Holles" after a...

One of the most popular traditions in Hollis, New Hampshire is Old Home Days, which is held on a weekend during September. There is often an Old Home Day Dance the Friday night before that is very popular with students on Nichols Field. There are often carnival rides and attractions set up the night of the dance in preparation for the following day. On Old Home Day itself, there are dozens of booths and pavilions set up like traditional New England fairs, including old-fashioned games, animal demonstrations, live music, and plenty of food. Many of the pavilions are sponsored by local organizations, schools, and teams. Weather permitting, there are often hot air balloon rides and an evening "balloon glow" where the balloons are grounded and lit up from the inside. The day concludes with...
