Mortgages that require a low-down payment for first time homebuyers in Asbury Park NJ?A mortgage that requires a low down payment for first time homebuyers in Asbury Park is now starting to be the standard. Making a smaller down payment does involve some form of mortgage insurance (MI) but not with some program. This is a fee that may be paid to limit the lender's risk when there is a lower down payment when buying your mortgage insurance (MI). Our loans are available with as little as 3.5% down payment. The cost of the mortgage insurance maybe paid by the bank depending on the borrower's credit score and location. Borrowers with lower credit scores may be better off with an FHA loan. The disadvantage with FHA loans is that the borrower cannot cancel the MI for an FHA loan. The only way...

Here's another one of those houses that has been catching my eye for decades!  It sits about 200 feet from the Atlantic Ocean and reminds me of a California house, maybe one in Santa Barbara.  This style is very unusual to see here at the Jersey Shore, where most beachside homes were Victorians or what we call the Shore Shingle Style.  I'm so in love with this home and hope I'll get to see the inside some day!  I picture dark wide board floors and high ceilings inside.  It was built as a summer home in the 1920s, so I'm sure the high ceilings are there.  I'd furnish it with white slipcovers and live happily ever after. It has a clay tiled roof and charming courtyard with an antique fountain.  With its tidy green hedge, I know the owners take good care of it, though it is remarkably fre...

The owner of seven restaurants, four in Asbury Park, MarilynSchlossbach is a canny businesswoman with a passion for surfing—and helping theless fortunate. Posted May 9, 2011 by CarenChesler   New Year’s Eve 2009, Marilyn Schlossbach had just opened Langosta Lounge and wasoperating with a skeleton staff—her husband, Scott Szegeski, and one otherperson. Then 400 customers showed up. As the order tickets began to back up,Schlossbach stood in the kitchen and cried. “We couldn’t catch ourbreath,” she says. When her landlord happened into the kitchen, she pleaded,“Can you sell this place for me?” Three and a half years later, Langostanow serves 1,000 people on a good night and has 13 people assigned to thekitchen. It’s one of four restaurants Schlossbach co-owns in Asbury Park—ofseven tot...

Asbury Park - more than just Rock & Roll Every so often I get so busy with showing houses, setting up open houses, and meeting with potential listings that I forget to stop and smell the roses, or better yet, the salty air. I have to remind myself of what I love about Asbury Park, living at the beach, and why I enjoy selling real estate here. I forget about how on any given weekend, there are events for just about anyone. I forget about the delicatible eateries that have made a home in Asbury, and I forget about the amazing people that I encounter every day here. For example, the Silverball Museum has moved to the Third Avenue Pavilion. This extraordinary collection of vintage pinball games and related arcade wonder machines will be a major attraction and draw thousands of visitors and ...

FOURTH OF JULY, ASBURY PARK DOCUMENTARY from Backstreets.comGreetings from Asbury Park, an award-winning documentary feature film that offers a personal perspective on how eminent domain abuse has affected the Jersey Shore town, can be seen on PBS stations in New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia. The film follows 91-year-old Angie Hampilos, a Greek immigrant and the great aunt of filmmaker Christina Eliopoulos, as she learns that her seaside bungalow - her home of over 50 years - will be taken by eminent domain to make way for (more) luxury condominiums. In fact, 29 city blocks of homes, businesses, apartments and historic boardwalk attractions are now boarded up and ready for the wrecking ball. They belong to a private developer and will be razed to make way for 3,100 luxury condos. ...

Can it be any worse out there?  If you haven't heard, as the credit crisis continues, there are tens of thousands of jobs being lost just on Wall Street alone. And with a few mergers in the near future, there will be more jobs lost. Is consumer confidence down?  You betcha !!  The Dow Jones is down over 500 points just today, the most since 9/11 in 2001. This is because of fear of a deepening of a year long credit rout caused by hundreds of billions of dollars from write downs and losses worldwide. Mortgage rates are dropping like crazy, which is good. But without jobs and less money flowing through the economy, this will hurt everyone, especially the real estate market.     I have spoken to several respected people in the industry in the last week and most of them all have some major ...

FHA loans can help you not only make your home 'Green', but save you money. Saving money is a great thing in any economy, right?  Don't you like to know about the little secrets of cutting corners? How would you like to save over $200 a month just because you improved your home with energy-efficient ideas.  Are you part of the GREEN family now, because not only did you save money, improve your home, but because you are helping the environment? And did you know that this can be done without spending extra money out of pocket as possible. How about that this is a great way for a realtor or a seller to market their home also. Especially for those homes that are 5 years or older. You can also refinance your current mortgage by using this program.   HUD states that Congress started a pilot ...
