East Windsor Township, which is located off of Exit 8 of the New Jersey Turnpike, has an extense history. Very interesting reading for those who live in the town or are about to. Enjoy!!!   1664 King Charles II of Great Britain decides to reclaim land in North America from Holland and Sweden. He gives the land around what would become New York City to his brother the Duke of York. Several months later, the Duke of York gives the southern part of  this land to Sir George Carteret and Lord Berkeley. They call the area "Nova Caesarac" or "New Jersey" after the Isle of Jersey in the English Channel. 1674 Sir George Carteret and Lord Berkeley divide New Jersey between them into East and West Jersey. 1675 Settlers receive permission to form Middlesex County in the province of New Jersey. My husband and I came to East Windsor in 1974 and we purchased our home, right behind Lee's Turkey Farm. It has always been a very big part of our lives and own town. I did some research and found the information  for this Blog. This is for all the residents of this town, present, past and future. The History of Lee's Turkey Farm (This house still stands today) Aaron Forman, an East Windsor farmer, built the original five-room section of this home in1802 A barn Forman built about the same time still stands to the west of the house. Between 1800 and 1850, various owners added eleven rooms to this house, the centerpiece of the surrounding fifty-four acre farm. The first members of the Updike-Lee family to live here were Levi C. Updike (1844-1918) and his new bride Abbie C. Applegate (184...

If you are a consumer looking to purchase or refinance, this is a must read. It could cost you thousands if you don't pay attention. This is not a threat, but a warning from someone that has almost 16 years of experience in the mortgage industry. When shopping for a mortgage, no matter if you plan on using the person that you first spoke to, or you have spoken to 3 different lenders, you want to get a good faith estimate from everyone that you speak to. You also So, you need to understand how to read a Good Faith Estimates and not just what the loan officer tells you. There are many things to look at, but the two main things are the interest rate and the lender's fees. Just don't go to the bottom of the good faith estimate and compare the total costs. Why? I explain a lot of that in th...

FHA loans in many cases are much better than conventional loans. I have made this statement several times recently because I am tired of listening to loan officers, realtors, and the average consumer get all excited because FHA mortgages are back. People, they never left. FHA loans are not the new subprime mortgages.  FHA loans have been around since 1934. And why are they much better than conventional loans?  I can make this statement if your credit score is below 680 and especially if you are putting 10 percent or less down.  Overall, it's not rocket science to figure this out. The reason why so many consumers are led down the wrong path sometimes is because either the loan officer doesn't know how to handle the credit aspect of FHA loans or because their mortgage company is not FHA...
