Posted by Elizabeth H Jones on February 21, 2011 at 6:02pm      The Stock Market has experienced dramatic swings in value during the past four years. After reaching a high of approximately 14,000 in 2007, values plummeted to about 6,500 in 2009. During the last 24 months, the Dow has regained most of the value it had lost. It wasn't obvious that the bottom had been reached until there had been a significant increase in value. Most experts didn't expect to rebound so quickly.      Is it possible the Real Estate Market will follow suit? The answer to that question won't be evident until we have seen a significant reduction in inventory and a rebound in prices. Waiting until it's obvious we are trending upward doesn't work with Real Estate. Buyers must remember that as real estate prices ...

The only problem I have with searching homes online and online real estate sites that compare comps for the homes is they are not true comps! Homes in Howell NJ of example have mixed groups and I'm sure it is like that in other neighborhoods. On one side of the street there is a development; newer homes mostly Colonials with city water/sewer on lots less than an acre then on the other side of the street we find mostly ranches/colonials that usually are older or updated some new with septic/well on more than 2 acres. These online real estate sites will compare these two very different types of properties which produces a false home value. Realtors that know the area understand the differences and make adjustments; until the sites can make the adjustments in the comparable properties and ...

I have been reading and watching the "social network pages". I got on facebook so I could keep up with my friends, kids and childhood friends. I am glad there are pages for business but I like the "social" part. I almost feel like someone has put commericals or ads in where I didn't want them. I understand the need for the internet marketing, NAR and NJAR on it, fan pages I like but their is a part of me that says we are at a party-no business now. Now I am new to the web page/social net stuff so maybe someone could offer another idea or how this all works without taking up the party time?

Next Saturday, June 13th is Manalapan Day.  It a a fun day for people to come with their families.  There are many fun activities planned for the whole family.  It looks like Mickey Dolenz is scheduled to perform there (I don't know what time exactly).  I will be there at the Weichert Booth From 4-6.  Please come!  I would love to meet you there.  If you have any concerns and questions about real estate, please feel free to bring these along.  It is a great time for us to get to know each other and discuss the real estate market, along with any needs that you have.  So, whether you are a buyer, seller, or renter, please stop by and say "hello".  Note:  If it rains, I believe the rain date is the following week on 6/20.  Sincerely, Phyllis Katz, Weichert Realtors, Marlboro, NJ

Try watering your plants and yard with rain water! I know it's not new but it's one of those things that is so natural and easy that we (including me) forget to do! I have been searching the web and there are so many types of rainbarrels that are attractive and easy to hook up that; well I just have to get mine ASP. I can't believe how much water I could have saved using one! I also try to plant flowers and scrubs that are native to my home area which are not high maintenance. Going green is not as hard as we think! Just small things will help, so just try something that works for you.

Historic low interest rates, low prices and huge inventory. Yes it's a good time to buy if you can put 20% down, have good credit and feel secure in your job. Times are uncertain more people need to sell or what to sell to take advantage of the low interest rates and home prices. Now is a good time to move up from say a condo or rental to a home. It your selling and want to down size you are also in a good position because you are buying low. It's all realitive.

Buyers are really looking to get great deals on homes; who can blame them however sellers who also want to take advantage of the market can make out too. Even though the sellers will get less for their home when they go to buy they will also  buy low; it becomes a wash.

Our phones are ringing. The buyers are out. Some are looking for homes and then deciding to put their home on the market. Others have sold and are ready to buy. The problem is most people do not want to sell until they know where they are going. I would say get pre-approved by a mortgage lender, work with a Realtor to price your home correctly. Even if you are scaling down, what you will buy will also be low so the game plan should be get an appraisal for your home; price accordingly; buyers will know the home is not over priced; get pre-approved so you will have a general idea of what you can buy and speak to a home stager. You want a home stager that will give practical suggestions that are low cost or better yet do not cost anything. There is so much inventory that if a buyer can not...
