Santa Fe Association of Realtors - news release of overall City and County of Santa Fe home sales statistics for the last quarter of 2016 tells the story of another shift in our Santa Fe real estate market and trends which appear to be looking up! Home sales increased by 16% with 388 units sold the last quarter of 2016 compared to 336 in the last quarter of 2015.  (This increase appears to be continuing as Santa Fe experiences low inventory in 2017). The Santa Fe City median home price leaped 13% from $300,250 in the 4th quarter of 2015 to $339,928 in the last quarter of 2016. The gift of seeing the sun rise over the Sangre de Cristro mountains in Santa Fe is often where my day begins...looking east at dawn for what nature will paint in the sky next. And this is one of the reasons why I love Santa Fe. There is something special in seeing the sun rise. A true natural wonder. This prickly pear cactus decided to stop me in my tracks with one of her many yellow blossoms.     Every morning before sunrise I return my birdfeeder back to its post and food source for the birds and yes... rabbits and so many other surprises. I bring the feeder in at night to make sure any of the wandering bears passing by down from the mountain do not stop at my home. You see my bird feeder has become the center for activity beyond the birds for my local wildlife park. Perhaps the birds are on twitter tweeting about it which brings so many others as soon as the feeder is back.. In the past month, one of the visiting ground squirrels have learned to climb the pinon tree; three deer have discovered how to use their tongues to twist the feeder and enjoy a feast of seeds. Nothing Better Than A Dirty Jeep....My "Anniversary" Trip As my year continues to move along, a fitting metaphor is the road trip. I have always loved to travel by road. There is something rewarding about watching the miles tick away under your tires. A real turning point for me was this past Fall when I took a couple weeks and just drove back and forth to Illinois. When my anniversary began to creep up on me, a road trip was exactly the right idea.   This trip was planned over lunch with my daughter-in-law's aunt. She and I have become very good friends over the past 4 years and she has loved hearing about my road trips. She is a college professor so she has some free time in January and so she insisted that I do something for my anniversary with her, and Santa Fe has been on her list ... 02/02/2013

Silver Came up Short in 3A Football Championship Silver City High School was my favorite to knock off the St. Michaels Horsemen in the NMAA 3A Football Championship.  Unfortunately, that wasn’t to be.  Yesterday in what was a classic defensive battle, St Michael barely held on to beat Silver, 10-7. For all intents and purpose, Silver dominated the Horsemen, but they weren’t able to finish them off.  Congratulation to Silver on a great 10-3 Season.
