As we roll on into the 2nd quarter of 2010 we are starting to see that we are not as bad off as the rest of country is experiencing. Almost sheltered from economic slumps. In one of my last blogs Bridgewater Nova Scotia on the rise, making its Mark in the worldit does seem that Lunenburg co. might hold its own.  I made reference that "Bridgewater NS, we have always been in a recession as many will say! We haven't seen the huge influx in housing prices like out west and Ontario; we have always seen a steady climb, slow increases with minimal ups and downs."  In the attached market materials compliments of Fiona Steele at HLC, you can see that the positives for 2009 were housing starts are up over 52% from 2008 and the home resale market is up almost 50% (in units not $) over 2008 however...

Attention all Sellers..... Are you considering selling your Bridgewater NS home? Bridgewater is a bustle these days with the nice weather we received this past weekend. Some areas as high as 9c and today expecting 7c.. Things are looking up for this part of the province. Some would say "to bad we had the snow last week"... Others would say, "to bad we aren't getting more snow"... I'm thinking that good weather is always"Great for business"  It was a busy weekend in Bridgewater, buyers were everywhere. Now is the time to consider putting your home on the market. Spring fever isn't just for the animals. Interest rates are still at all time lows. Everywhere I look all the big stores here in Bridgewater have patio furniture and gardening tools ready to roll.  Makes you want to get out and p...

It's always a topic of conversation.... you know, that nasty word recession.. It's funny, here in Bridgewater NS, we have always been in a recession as many will say! We haven't seen the huge influx in housing prices like out west and Ontario, we have always seen a steady climb, slow increases with minimal ups and downs. We don't have the huge booms in job increases like the oil fields saw out in Alberta, in fact, as of late had several families making the move from the West Coast to Nova Scotia for a slower pace of life. Many of these families have never even been to the area for longer than a vacation or even grew up in Bridgewater. With the prospect of owning larger parcels of land, setting up farms, renovating houses and giving there children something more these are what has inspir...

Let's get ready to retire!!! Ok... so where do you go? What options are out there for Empty Nesters in Bridgewater Nova Scotia? Oh yes, and at an affordable price!!! You have condos, apartments, retirement homes & mini homes. These seem to be the majority of options that our senior age groups in Bridgewater Nova Scotia look at.  Now let's think about these 4 for a minute. Renting in Bridgewater Nova Scotia is getting to be a bit more expensive and more limited then you would think. There are fewer and fewer nice, newer, low maintenance apartments for rent at affordable pricing for our 50 plus buyers.   After years of paying a mortgage do you want to throw your money off the balcony so to speak? Wouldn't you like to keep some in your own pocket or pass some along to your family? Ok, rent...

Have you noticed since this virtual world has taken over, more and more of us sit behind the computer and spend our time working on getting ourselves out to the real world? Kind of an oxymoron isn't it!  In the Real Estate business, as in many businesses, it's truer these days.  We do Facebook, we Digg people, we Blog them and we even twitter? What does all this mean?? Well it should be your wake up call to get your fingers typing and your mind racing towards the finish line.  Have you ever wondered how you would keep up? Well if you are not even trying, you will be left behind.   I recently built a Bridgewater Nova Scotia Real Estate Fan page on Facebook. This fan page was encouraged by my local marketing business associate Nancy Bain at Supernova Studios. I have attached a link to her...

The world is pushing "GO GREEN"use less paper, recycle your waste, separate your garbage and think about landfill sites. In Lunenburg County, we have been recycling for years. We have the green carts, we use the blue bags and breakdown our cardboard and boxes. Recycling, we do it all, or at least we should. |Have you gotten your office on board yet? In Bridgewater Nova Scotia, our local radio station & news paper have partnered with the Lunenburg Recycling Facility since 2005 to promote businesses that exemplify efforts in waste management.  Each month a local business gets picked for their above and beyond Recycling approach! Some of what some people do to make changes is quite amazing! What a fantastic way to get free advertising with local media! Your name gets mentioned several times...

With real estate agents moving away from doing water tests in rural areas, I have added it to my list of services and my clients are happy.  So are the realtors.  In real estate, time is a very hot commodity.  If I do the water test when I'm doing my inspection, it saves everyone time and money (depending on the lab).  Water testing is not rocket science but you do have to be very particular about how you do it.  I always use lab provided bottles, alcohol swabs to wipe the faucet, and a hand sanitizer on my hands to eliminate any chance that I will be the source of micros. Comments from my clients and realtors have been very positive and it's a great source or revenue for me.  Win - win.

Buying a home in very exciting time for people, especially first time home buyers.  For 'newbies' it can be overwhelming with all the processes that they have to go through enroute to their first home.  Real estate agents are invaluable at this time.  A good agent can take away alot of stress with a good schedule of events for the buyers.  One stressfull event on any home buyer's list is the home inspection.  This is where any problems with the home are identified and pointed out to the buyer and agent if present.  What I like to do is point out any potential or existing problems and then offer solutions to these problems.  The idea here is to not burden the home buyer with having to come up with solutions on their own.  First time buyer's find this most helpful for obvious reasons.  It...
