Candy Dance Celebration in Genoa, Nevada Got A Rain Shower This Weekend Rainy vacations.  Some of our best vacations were highlighted by rains.  We’ve been in Napa, California when it rained 5 inches in day.  Everything was fresh and the people were few.  We had the place to ourselves with a few other adventuresome types. Another vacation found us in Washington, D.C.  To avoid a downpour we ducked in to a nearby building.  Turned out to be the National Gallery of Art.  What a delightful afternoon … artfully dry.  We had a similar experience in Chicago when it rained as we were by a major art museum.  Saw many world class paintings with dry paint. A wonderful place to live, the Carson Valley is blessed with four good seasons.  Summers are warm, not hot.  Winters are cold, not bitter cold.  Once in awhile there will be an exception and a summer day will get hot, but when the sun goes down it cools off immediately.  The same goes for the winter weather, we can get an exceptional cold spell ... the kind that brings snow to Las Vegas ... that will let you know you're alive.  Recently we got a half an inch of rain.  Given that we haven't seen much, if any, precipitation for months it seemed like a monsoon.  The livestock was drenched, and the ducks were in heaven.  The gray skies, drizzle, mud, and slop around the barnyard all contributed to the feeling of being in Seattle ... in the Nevada desert!  It was great.   The magical way Nat... 01/24/2009
