Fifth Annual Sierra Lutheran Falcons Fundraiser at the Minden Food Company.  The Minden Food Company again hosted the annual wine tasting fundraiser for the Sierra Lutheran Falcons basketball team.  Held in the middle of the street outside the Minden Food Company restaurant, the event has become a highly anticipated time to see old friends and catch up.  Each special event in our small town draws its own crowd and this one is always special, the old guard. In addition to the Minden Food Company prepared taste treats served by roaming “waiters”, basketball players, there is live music, authors signing their books, art for sale, and other appropriate vendors.  The time of year is perfect for an outdoor event, not too hot or cold. Interesting Things to Do In Carson Valley, Nevada   The CVIC hall in Minden, Nevada is being celebrated by the townsfolk for 100 years of service.      Many memories have been created within the walls of the Carson Valley Improvement Center, CVIC.  The Town of Minden is having a month long series of festivities to recognize the occasion beginning with a showing of Charley Varrick starring Walter Mattheau.  That movie was filmed in the Carson Valley.  Our family has had many special moments in the CVIC Hall including the Rotary Paper Airplane contest.  The kids made planes, went up on the balcony, and launched them.  Prizes were awarded for longest distance, longest time, most aerobatic, and other creative prizes that the Rotarians thought up.  Fun was had by all.  The hall saw an extens...

My Minden Nevada Daylilies In 1979 I bought a charming older home in the original town site of Minden Nevada.  For the next 25 years we lived in that great house and raised our family.  We actually moved about 5 years ago and build a new home on acreage just a few minutes away and our daughter and her family are now the happy residents. An avid gardener, I spent many summers planting all sorts of flowers that my kids and grand kids now enjoy.  Here's a picture of some of my favorite daylilies from the the Amador Flower Farm in Plymouth California.
