Their flyer was titled: “Free Market-Info Community Services Event” and they drew a packed house at the South Valleys Public Library in Reno.     The awesome ladies and one fine man were four of my my Realtors at Dreams Realty: Elise Westerlund, Mary Mihaila, Angeles Wanco, and Claire & Shawn Kirby.  The five of them took community outreach to heart, and developed a wonderful 90-minute evening seminar for the local community.     They had made arrangements with local Attorneys, a Certified Public Accountant, and a Mortgage Lender, (where Spanish speaking translators were available), and scheduled the event not as a real estate sales or promotional event, but as a true community services informational event with a Q/A session with the professionals.      The Attorneys covered loan mo...

Why has Congress not extended a tax credit for second home buyers or investment property? President Obama just signed the bill to extend the credit for first-time buyers and for buyers who buy a new primary residence with some restrictions.  Because of the state of the economy and the real estate market there are many vacant homes at incredibly low prices. If investors get back in the market and buy up some of this inventory it would have a dramatic effect. Why not give them some incentive? The market would start to come back, basic supply and demand, (guns and butter). Also people losing their homes would have more to rent.  Let's quit giving stimulus money to the banks that just buy other banks and get the economy back on its feet. Until the real estate market makes a dramatic shift u...

This has been a very tough market. The home prices in Reno NV are back to 2002 pricing and the interest rates have never been better. If you are a buyer, now is the time to buy plus if you are a first time buyer take advantage of the first time $8000 tax credit (must close by December 1st, 2009). Trying to sell in this market is not easy, in Washoe County 78% of the pending sales are either bank owned or short sales. A short sale is when the lending institute is willing to take less than what is owed on the loan. The paperwork is long, the closing can take months and the Seller must have a hardship. In todays market with so many unemployed and loss in portfolios we are starting to see a surge in the Luxury home market. Most recently I sold a $2.8 million home for $1 million, short sale....
