Who really wants to live in Buffalo? A lot more people than you think are relocating to Buffalo, and for many varied reasons.  Buffalo NY takes a lot of jokes about the snow and a lot of negative press with it being one of the fastest dying cities.  Yes people do leave Western New York, but people leave for many reasons.   Remember negative press sells newspapers and magazines. Perhaps now that Hillary Clinton isn't running for President, she can finally come through with her campaign promise (in her Senate Race in 2000) of 200,000 jobs for Upstate New York.  It appears that our little secret is not so secret anymore.   But I digress... So it is really wonderful to see an incredible article this week in the New York Magazine, entitled  Where the Urban Dream Life is Going Cheap by Adam ...

The idea for the festival came from a movie called Osmosis Jones. Bill Murray starred as a compulsive eater with a goal of attending the Super Bowl of junk food, The National Buffalo Wing Fesival.Ironically, their wasn't one. That is when native Buffalonian Drew Cerza, now affectionately known as the Wing King decided to make it happen back in 2002. This is a case of Real Life knocking off Hollywood! Thanks for the idea Bill! The National Buffalo Chicken Wing Festival is this Labor Day Weekend August 30-31 at Dunn Tire Park.   August 30-31, 2008 - National Buffalo Wing FestivalDunn Tire Park$5 per person/per day Children under 8 free

Buffalo NY is a community that has been misunderstood by many but those that live in Western New York know it is a wonderful place to call home.   Situated in the western portion of New York state nestled on shores of Lake Erie.  The Buffalo region is one of the fastest growing Real Estate markets in the United States today.  To the north is Niagara Falls and over the boarder Toronto. Buffalo is a city under an amazing amount of change; all for the positive. Visitors regularly say, "I had no idea." This expression of surprise has happened so often weve given it a name: the "Who Knew?" effect. As in, "Who knew Buffalo was such a beautiful city?" or "Who knew there was so much to do here?" or the "Who knew there were so many amazing restaurants?"   Read the rest of the story: Welcome To B...

Buffalo Homecoming will be an amazing read more about it here.  BTEC showcases the CEO's of twenty of Buffalo's most professive "new economy" high tech companies.   Buffalo Homecoming's BTEC will be held at the Statler Grand Ballroom this free event is not to be missed!  The stereotype of Buffalo is that it is a town filled with blue collar lunch bucket factory workers with a love of chicken wings and Canadian Beer. Well, the wings and beer thing is true, but Buffalo is also home to a growing and thriving new economy. This is a networking event at which larger companies can show the way to success, mid-level companies can reach out to new customers, find talent, locate real estate, and smaller companies that are just starting out can find some investors or just share their plans. BTEC...

Earlier this week I attended the Buffalo Niagara Association of Realtors Technology Summit. Several people at my table as Keith Garner spoke about blogging, they would say "Oh I couldn't do that" and I just sat there quietly thinking that is good.   I don't have much to worry about in competition.  He showed examples of blogs that have great success, Teresa Boardman and Jay Thompson up on the screen, sites that I have followed since joing ActiveRain. Then Keith goes and tells everyone to go get on ActiveRain to learn about blogging, get into the habit but and this is the most important but:  Get your own BLOG and write to the consumer there, not on ActiveRain. Hmm interesting, something I already knew.   Use ActiveRain for learning.   So if you have been around ActiveRain for awhile ...

First off... Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse rank in the top five best mid-sized cities for relocating families, according to a new study, with Buffalo ranking #5.  Last year we were ranked #17. See it here, below - from the source.  We also rate #41 for best places for singles looking to relocate - not just a family friendly place Buffalo!  Check out that study, too, below. http://www.primacy.com/resources/BestCitiesFamily2008.pdf http://www.primacy.com/resources/BestCitiesforSingles_10-25-07.pdf

Residents of Buffalo know that we have a somewhat pessimestic view of our community.  We've been through a lot - numerous city planning mistakes, recurrent sports failures, cold and snowy winters, languishing waterfront.  But in recent years (and more-so in the past months) great news has funneled into Buffalo. I promise to focus on the good things going for Buffalo on my blog, because recently there have been so many of them.  They will be real estate or economy-focused thoughts.  It's so easy to be down on your own city - the real success comes from accentuating the positive and eliminating the negative.  I hope you enjoy and find this informative.  Please share your comments with me.

Shakespeare in Delaware Park A Buffalo summer tradition since 1976, Shakespeare in Delaware Park has been thrilling local audiences with world-class theatrical productions. It is the country's second most successful outdoor Shakespeare festival in terms of audience, attracting an average of 50,000 patrons each summer. Only New York City draws more attendance for a FREE Shakespeare festival. Our festival takes place in a historic park designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, father of landscape architecture, and the nation's foremost parkmaker. Behind the Park's rose garden stands our grand Tudor-Style stage on a sweeping hill of green. In this beautiful setting under the stars, Shakepeare's stories live on to explore the truths of the human heart; tragedy, jealousy, foolishness, passion, la...
