A few months ago, we helped a seller by adding carpet to her basement in Westchester .  She was happy with our work and called us a few months later.   Yes, she had sold the house, and much faster than she anticipated.  Not only that, but she found a new home in White Plains and she wanted our help to recarpet her new place.  Sweet.  I love it when that happens.   After I gave her the estimate, she mentioned that she was going to be giving my information (and the other contractors she used) to the new buyer of her original house.  I was so honored.  I knew they would need to do some work in there, especially with sanding and refinishing the floors.  Sure enough, we got a call on Monday from the new buyer.  It was fun to revisit the house - both to see how much it had improved since my o... 07/16/2013

Many of my customers get confused about engineered hardwood flooring vs. laminate flooring. Which is real? Which is fake? What is the difference?   First, laminate is fake. It usually looks like hardwood (and occasionally tile) but it's not real. It's a picture of hardwood covered by a melamine wear layer and on top of a high density core board. The pieces click together and lock into place to create a floating floor. Laminate has really come a long way and looks rather real; but, when you walk on it, you can often tell by the clicking noisy/tinny sound that it's fake.   Engineered hardwood, sounds fake, but it's NOT. As background, let's just say I'm tired, cranky and overworked and it's not a nice day out which is making me even more tired.  I just about ran out of coffee, so I ran into a store near where I was - Morton Williams.  Well they have some fresh produce and all sorts of fancy foods which I love. So I decided to treat myself right so I can cheer myself up and make it through a couple of days of major catch up this Sat/Sun.  I went to the fancy deli section and saw in the freezer some fancy bon bons.  These aren't just any bon bons - they are Capuchino cheese cake bon bons...yum...
