Doubt, Judgment & Seeing... "Doubt yourself and you doubt everything you see.  Judge yourself and you see judges everywhere.  But if you listen to the sound of your own voice, you can rise above doubt and judgment.  And you can see forever." ~ Nancy Kerrigan "If you find yourself having doubts you need to go back to the basics.  Review your goals and ask a co-worker, spouse or friend to hold you accountable for one task each week.  You need to have the burning desire to succeed and you will remove any doubt that might enter your thoughts.  You can control what happens to you... so trust yourself, trust that little voice inside you and you will see great thing occurring around you." ~ John Villella    Wishing you an inspired week, and may everything you touch turn to SOLD,   John Villel...

Spread the light... "There are only two ways of spreading light - to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it." ~ Edith Wharton "Others notice and react to your emotions.  If you are happy and bright you become the person others wish to be around and work with.  Don't let a bad event during your day ruin the entire day.  Have a plan to regroup your thoughts - even if you have to go look at yourself in the mirror and give yourself a slap.  Share a smile and make it a better day for not only you, but for everyone around you." ~ John Villella    Wishing you an inspired week, and may everything you touch turn to SOLD,John Villella, Your Personal Building Consultant

Scouting hit our home over the past few years and my wife and I have had the pleasure of watching and assisting our son Andrew work hard while earning his ranks and badges during this time as a Cub Scout.   The last few weeks have been the pinnacle of Andrew's hard work in Cub Scouts.  It started many months ago when he earned his Bobcat and later working his way towards being a Weblos I & II.  Hard work and dedication and remaining on track paid off for Andrew.  Three weeks ago Andrew was awarded the Super Achiever Award.  This is presented to scouts that have earned all 20 Weblos badges.  Andrew worked with many people while earning all of these badges and he learned a great deal about life, the environment and himself while doing so.     I think the two awards that his mother and I a...

Western New York Home Inspector John Villella, of All Pro Home Inspection, comments about if homeowners should attempt a repair or use a professional to do it right. John Villella, owner of All Pro Home Inspection cautions homeowners about completing repairs on their own.  It's always recommended that the homeowner only attempt repairs if they have the technical knowledge and tools to do the job properly.  All too often homeowners attempt to do repairs only to find themselves in a much worse position - even if they get the task completed.  Many times the non-professional repairs are completed only to end up costing additional money or even continued deterioration or damage to the system or building component.  Plus, many repairs are not completed to provide proper safety to the occupant...

WOW, another week is gone and another win for the Lockport Thunder U10 Boys.  The boys were unstoppable on Sunday and posted a 10 - 0 win.  My son finally scored his first goal of the season... remember he plays the majority of the game playing defense or in goal.  He was happy to get the goal, now his sister won't be on his back about scoring.  The boy just keep on getting stronger as each week passes.  Good job Thunder! The girls played well again this week with a win over Tonawnada.  The girls remain in second place with just one loss.  Keep up the good work Lightning. Until next week... I had an interesting inspection today that revealed the usual things - some electrical cleanup needed in the basement, you know missing cover plates, loose wiring, a drip at a supply line and a leak found at the tub drain.  The usual stuff you would expect to find in a 78 year old home.   As I was checking each building component and system I couldn't help but wonder why the chimney had a water stain running from below the vent pipe.  Remember, this is a 78 year old home that has several stains that are commonly seen in homes of similar age.  Stains on the block foundation walls, on the floor joists, especially under the kitchen and bathroom areas where years of small drips and leaks have left evidence of the past problems.  Everything was dry except the area under the tub drain, but th...

Sunday was a busy day for the Lockport Lightning and Thunder U10 girls and boys soccer teams. Let's start with the Lockport Lightning U10 girls. The Lightning advanced another game in the win column with as strong outing against the Niagara U10 girls.  Lockport posted a 5-0 win.  My daughter picked up 3 points this week with three assists.  The win moves the Lockport Lightning U10 Girls team to a 3-1-0 record.  The girls are improving with each week.  As I stated in past posts this team is very young with 8, 9, and 10 year olds making up the 10 year old team.  Good job girls! On a side note for the girls game.  The referee was by far the best I've seen in the two years since my kids began playing soccer at the travel level.  Yes, these teams are travelingteams and represent the best of ...

Great news.  I've been using AR for two weeks now.  I enjoy sharing and commenting with everyone.  Best of all everyone has been very warm and helpful - Thank you.  I just checked google and found that using a curtain search phrase I'm now on page one in the 6th position.  I've been trying to get on the first page for over two years using this search phrase and in just two weeks of hanging around you rainers I made it! Task - It's Cold Outside... Stay in and clean your kitchen cabinets Cooking, smoke, steam, grease, food spills, oils from hands and you name it make your kitchen cabinets look grubby. Cleaning will not only keep them looking new, but make for a cleaner living area and help retain the value in your home. Overview Everyday flower, sugar, grease and skin oil collect on your cabinet faces and shelves. Not only does this buildup of grime mar the beauty of your cabinets, it can deteriorate the finish and create an environment for germs to live.  Inevitably, something needs to be done.  A good thorough cleaning should be completed twice a year.  It's cold outside... or take a rainy day in the summer and invest 30 to 60 minutes twice a year.  The following steps will provide a safe and easy pla...

I'm always amazed when I see a repair that is.. well...let's just say not proper.  In this case this repair had to be more trouble than if it was repaired properly.  But, it's funny. Here's the weekly update regarding my kids soccer teams. The Lockport Lightning U10 Girls won this week 2-0 against the North Tonawanda girls.  This was a well played game that could have went either way, but glad the Lockport girls improved their record to 2-1.  My daughter had 2 assists.  The girls have a bye next week, but will be in the gym working on game skills during this time.    The Lockport Thunder U10 Boys battled to a 2-2 tie on Sunday.  This was a hard fought game by two very talented teams.  My son was in goal during the second half of the game and made some outstanding saves to keep it a tie game.  The boys are 1-0-1 this season and will return back to the field this Sunday. We are lucky here in Western New York to have two indoor facilities that have fields available for...
