A couple of weeks ago a friend and I were headed to a business meeting after work and since we were extremely hungry we decided to stop at The Outback Steakhouse in Middletown, NY.  This was her choice because personally I am not a fan of Outback.  We were seated right away as the restaurant was pretty much empty. We were still waiting for someone to come and take our order and even speak to us about 15 minutes later.  Now since we were both starving that made us extremely cranky.  If the restaurant had been full and busy it would have been another story.  We were going to get up and leave because we needed to be to a meeting but last minute I decided to say something to the only person close by before we left.  This happened to be the bartender who was busy-not overwhelmed but was quit... 12/26/2010

After seeing The Chronicles of Narnia in 3D the other day we decided to go hit the IMAX Theater in the Palisades Mall in West Nyack since we had never been to an IMAX movie before.  After seeing Narnia in 3D we figured it would be pretty much the same thing just on a bigger screen.  The IMAX gives you glasses too but they looked like your everyday goofy over sized sunglasses in a light green.  We sat in the back row to see the movie Tron that just came out this weekend.  When the movie started I could not believe the difference!  We thought the Narnia movie in 3D was terrific.  This was a whole other level of 3D.  If you have never been to an IMAX theater you HAVE to go.  You can't even begin to explain how awesome it is.  Sitting in the back row of this very big theater it was almost a... 12/19/2010

Yesterday we went to see the new "The Chronicles of Narnia."  This was my first experience with a 3D film at the movies.   We went to the Middletown Cinemas on Dolson Avenue in Middletown, NY.  You pay an extra $3 to rent these really cool 3D glasses that look like mirror sun glasses and are to be returned at the end of the movie.  I was a little hesitant because I hadn't seen any of the previews yet and had never seen a 3D movie before.  As a kid "The Chronicles of Narnia" were among my favorite books and still have a permanent spot on my book shelves. For anyone considering the movie I thought it was fantastic.  If you have never seen a 3D movie it is truly a treat.  The movie was approximately 2 hours.  From beginning to end it was non-stop action and held your attention all the way ... 12/18/2010

The 2nd show we saw was the Cirque Show "Mystere".  For any of the shows you see you have to pick the tickets up at the box office where the show is to be seen.  This particular show is at the Treasure Island Casino which was at the other end of the strip from where we were staying.  I have never seen a Cirque Du Soleil show and have always wanted to so I was quite excited about finally being able to go. When we arrived there were people in costumes taking the tickets and the inside of the theater was just beautiful.   Again no cameras or video of any kind was allowed.  "Mystere" is one of the most popular of the Cirque shows in Las Vegas.  It first opened in 1993 and runs 5 nights a week all year long.  The show is a combination of various types of acrobats in "death defying" feats.  I... 12/17/2010

Back in August I read a great post from William Johnson about the program Evernote.  It seemed like a great program so I immediately tried to put on my Droid phone.  I tried to download several times and had trouble and eventually gave up.  As it turned out it was my phone that was the problem and not Evernote.  I have since gotten a new phone from Verizon. So this week I came across Evernote again and decided to give another try since I was looking for apps for an Ipad.  It installed no problem on my phone, Ipad and laptop.  Now the theory behind Evernote is that anything you do on any of these devices (where Evernote is installed) will be accessible by any of them anywhere at anytime.  The best part it is FREE, yes FREE! December 2010   Market Update The housing market continues its uneven and gradual recovery without the aid of the tax credit. Experts believe this will be the trend moving forward. Interest rates hit another record low but have started moving back up as the overall economy improves.  Despite a less-than-expected employment report, consumers seem to be feeling brighter about the future. While the Consumer Confidence Index about the Present Situation rose only slightly, the Expectation Index showed substantial improvement. This time we didn't have to get up quite so early.  We had to catch our bus at 7:45 am to head to the tour of Hoover Dam.   The bus picked us up early this time and we headed over to the main bus station where we then had to wait about 20 minutes before we got on the main coach bus to head to the Dam.   It took us about an hour to get to the Dam and then we went past and a little further up so we could take pictures looking back at the Dam.  Then the bus brought us to the actual Dam building and restaurant area where he dropped us off and said he would return in 3 hours.  We went right into the Dam for their tour and they took us all the way through most of the Dam.   It was such an interesting tour.  We learned so many things about the Dam that you don't know if you haven't been there ... 12/06/2010

Are you familiar with this phrase?  Prior to Vegas I wasn't at all.  While we were visiting one of the many malls in the hotels in Vegas we came across the Michael Godard store.  Michael Godard is an amazing artist who is considered one of the most influential artists of our time. The artwork in this store was indescribable.  We both loved all of it and wanted to bring some home.  Michael Godard has been featured on Criss Angel's "Mind Freak", Kat Von Dee's "Inked", "Evening Magazine and all of the major networks.  His work is collected by rock stars, private collectors, movie stars, the general public from young to old and his book "Don't Drink and Draw" was awarded Art Book of the Year. While out with one of my clients this week she was telling me about things she had purchased as gifts for the holidays.  One of the things she mentioned was something from See's Candies.  I had never heard of them and she said she had been buying from them for years-they had the best candy she and her family had ever had.  See's Candy store has been around since November of 1921 when they opened their first store in Los Angeles, CA.  Charles See had the inside designed to resemble Mary See's (his mother) home kitchen.   By the mid 1920's See's Candies had grown from 1 shop to 12 and by 1936 were expanding into San Francisco, CA.  After World War II, See's Candies continued to open shops throughout the state of California.  By the 1950's they were establishing themselves in the local mal... 12/05/2010
