I am in the process of highlighting various residential developments in the town and village of Monroe NY. A few weeks ago, I shared information about the Mansion Ridge development. This week highlights the Maple Knolls area of Monroe NY. Maple Knolls is a development of single family homes in the village of Monroe NY. This development is located on both sides of Mine Road, between Rye Hill Road and the Monroe highway department.  Specifically, Maple Knolls Monroe NY is located off of Mine Road, near Rye Hill Road. Community bag sale is Oct. 27; fill a bag for only $2 MONROE - The Pine Tree Elementary School is gathering coats and other winter-weather clothing items for the school’s third annual winter outerwear collection project. The school is collecting new or “gently used” coats, boots, scarves, gloves, snow pants, snow suits, sweaters and sweatshirts in both children and adult sizes through Monday, Oct. 26 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The next day, Oct. 27, the school will host its community outerwear event from 4 to 8 p.m, in the school’s cafeteria, where residents can fill a bag with winter wear for the entire family for only $2. MONROE - Ace Egg Farms in the Monroe area has donated 15,120 eggs to a number of food banks in the Mid-Hudson in an effort to make Easter a little more egg-citing for families. Ace Vice President Michael Grindrod said they have donated eggs for years. This is the first time they have done it to different food pantries. In the last two years, the donated their entire allotment to the Food Bank of Westchester County, but this Easter decided to donate them to the local food pantries as well, "due to the economic times and we want to get more involved with the communities," he said. This year, Ace Farms donated eggs to the Highland Mills Food Pantry, Montgomery Food Pantry, the Food Bank of Westchester and Monroe Food Pantry.
