Museum Village in Monroe, New York is just that, a village. Visit the village grounds, and walk through an accurate depiction of 19th Century American life. Along the village's meandering streets you will find a circa 19th century blacksmith, broom shop, candle shop, dress emporium, drug store, general store, log cabin, pottery shop, print shop, school house, wagon shop, and weave shop. Several of the shops are operational, so you can watch the various proprietors work at their individual trades.For a step even further back in time, Museum Village has a natural history building that houses a genuine mastodon skeleton. Former Private First Class John Perrillo of Monroe, NY received 10 medals for his service in the 2nd World War. U.S. Rep John Hall (D-New Hope) presented the medals to Mr. Perrillo at the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor in New Windsor, NY on September 4, 2007.Mr. Perrillo, who is now 85 years old, received the following medals: Purple Heart, the Good Conduct, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign, the World War II Victory, the Expert Infantryman Badge, the Honorable Service Lapel Button, Expert Badge and Rifle Bar, the Sharpshooter Badge and Field Artillery Bar and a Marksman Badge and Pistol Bar. The Monroe-Woodbury graduating class of 1957 will celebrate its 50th anniversary reunion on August 25, 2007 at Bocci's Italian Village at Walton Lake. The original graduating class consisted of 65 students. More than 45 people are expected to attend.
