Oyster Bay, NY is rich in culture and history.  Oyster Bay is Teddy Roosevelt's hometown.  Everywhere you look, there is a footprint of Teddy Roosevelt.  There is a park called Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park and the elementary school is named Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School.  Teddy Roosevelt had his summer white house here at Sagamore Hill in Oyster Bay Cove from 1902 to 1908.  He worshiped at Christ Church in Oyster Bay.  He had an office at the Moore Bldg in Oyster Bay and received phone calls at Snouder's Drug Store in Oyster Bay.  He participated at the Fourth of July parade here and rode the Long Island Railroad in Oyster Bay.  There is a bust of Teddy Roosevelt in front of the Town Hall and a TR statue by sculptor, A. Phiminster Proctor now located in front of the Boys an...

The Pathways of Feng Shui in Oyster Bay Long Island NY As a Feng Shui Consultant in New York, I am often faced with the different pathways in life I can choose.  We ALL make these decisions; some are difficult paths to choose but I wonder:  If we only choose the easy paths to follow, are we really challenging ourselves? There is a unique part of Long Island New York called Oyster Bay.  I am in different parts of Oyster Bay quite often, whether it's for a Feng Shui Consultation or just to enjoy the beauty of what was once known as The Gold Coast of Long Island.  On this particular day I was in the Planting Fields Arboretum and wandered down paths I wouldn't normally have followed. Today, this New York Feng Shui Consultant thought about PATHS we choose in life.  To not step out of our usu...

To keep our roses happy during the summer months, here are some things we ought to do. Mulching - Rosebeds with 2" or 3" of mulch do not need as much water as the beds without mulch.  There are all kinds of material we can use as mulch - pine bark nuggets, pine needles, hay, shredded oak leaves, seaweeds, cedar mulch or cocoa mulch.  The rose beds look much better with mulch and the mulch also helps the roses retains moisture, keep the roots cool and aid in the prevention of weeds.  I don't recommend cocoa mulch if you have a dog.  They smell great and dogs love it but it is not good for them.  One report said that a dog died because the dog ate so much cocoa mulch.  You know chocolate is bad for dogs and chocolate comes from cocoa beans.  Watering - Roses needs at least 2" of water ev...

HAPPY FATHERS' DAY!  Here are some great quotes in your honor. Fatherhood is pretending the present you love most is soap-on-a-rope. - Bill Cosby When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around.  But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished at how much he had learned in seven years. - Mark Twain A truly rich man is one whose children run into his arms when his hands are empty. - Unknown There are three stages of a man's life.  He believes in Santa Claus, he doesn't believe in Santa Claus, he is Santa Claus. - Unknown And this one is my favorite: My sons and his friends used to play ball in my backyard.  I got horrified when the balls hit my roses and I would come out and say, "You guys are killing my roses."  My husband would...

New York Feng Shui and Eco Friendly ART   In 1996 I was deeply immersed in my Feng Shui Study Course here on Long Island New York.  In addition to the intensives on Feng Shui we were introduced to a subject called Bio-Biologie.  Long before Al Gore came out and spoke about “Going Green” we were learning about such things as ‘environmentally friendly” materials, paints and all natural rugs that don’t outgas (often times for YEARS to come), electromagnetic energy and the hazards of being exposed to it to incorporate methods for our clients to live a healthier, happier and more productive life through both Feng Shui AND bio-biologie. It is a science and study developed in Germany and brought to the United States.  I have been as careful as possible since then to buy as natural as I can….in...

Memorail Day has and always should be a day when we all take a moment to honor and reflect upon the men and women of the armed forces who have made the supreme sacrifice in times of war to protect our freedom.  They perished in service to their country and for each and every man, woman, and child who calls the United States home.    Memorial Day, originated in a ceremony called Decoration Day in 1868 was originally observed as a memorial by the northern states to the Union soldiers who died in the Civil War.  Memorial Day became a federal holiday in 1971 and has been an annual tribute to those who have given their lives in service to their country.  May 30th was initially designated as Memorial Day but an Act of Congress moved Memorial Day to the last Monday in May.   Local towns an...

It has been a busy week at church this week culminating at Easter Mass this morning.  It was a lovely service till about the communion part of the mass. An elderly lady, could be on her eighties, sitting four rows in front of us had a fainting spell.  I didn't realize it till I saw a lady went to the back and brought a glass of water, then two ushers kept on coming back and forth.  Then I realized something was wrong.  I saw a lady holding tight an elderly lady close to her.  Then I heard the fire siren.  Our church is four blocks from the Fire Dept.  Within five minutes, two firemen came with their emergency medical box and one of the firemen had a stethoscope checking her breathing.  This was right on the center isle while the parishioners were all lined up for communion.  Then four f...
