A Rhinecliff NY SunsetRhinecliff NY is a Hamlet in the Town of Rhinebeck, it has a front row view of the Hudson River and Catskills.  This Rhinecliff NY sunset was taken down by the dock.  Right next to the dock is the Amtrak Station which happen to be the last stop in Dutchess County NY.  It is also an important transpotation hub for those working in New York City or for those taking the train from New City to get to their country home. The Rhinecliff Hotel is also in view,  and while dining there I have captured some beautiful sunsets. Rhinecliff NY sunsets are spectacular, and watching the sun disappear is a great way to end the day.

There is so much I love about this unsual sunset over the Hudson River, the dark clouds,  the contrasting colors over the mountain, as well as the reflection on the water.Nature can certainly put on a showcase for us daily, and it is up to us to stop and enjoy such beauty.

Today coming over the kingston Rhinecliff Bridge I could see a beautiful skyline over the Hudson River  and Catskill Mountains, the perfect photo opportunity except for the fact the rails on the bridge got in the way. Did that stop me from taking shots? No! especially since I was bored sitting in the back seat. If you look carefully  you will see the river and mountain through the rails.

Rhinecliff NY a gateway to the Village of Rhinebeck  Rhinecliff NY is listed on the National Register of Historic places, and is considered as the oldest continous hamlet along the Hudson River and is  a gateway to the village of Rhinebeck. Before I get to that, let us take a look at how this hamlet was formed.  It was established in 1686 as a part of a purchase by 5 Dutchmen who purchased a large parcel from the indians. The area was formerly known as Kipsbergen, named for one of the Dutchmen.  Rhinecliff is a gateway way to Rhinebeck because the Amtrak train station is located there, and is the only train stop in in Northern Dutchess.  This is the preferred  mode of  transportation for many working in New York City.  Since Rhinebeck is also a tourist destination many take the train fr...

How important is the Kingston Rhinecliff Bridges is to Northern Dutchess and  Ulster County?   The Kingston Rhinecliff Bridge connects Northern Dutchess to Ulster on the other side of the Hudson River.  In Northern Dutchess you will not find any large stores, yes no malls.  Kingston on the other has a couple malls and is only 15 minutes away by the bridge. Without the bridge Northern Dutchess Residents would have to travel 30-40 minutes to Poughkeepsie to shop. Because of the bridge residents of Northern Dutchess have 2 additional hospitals they could access within 15-20 minutes. Quick access to the New York  Thru-Way Employers such as Northern Dutchess hospital and Bard College employees from Ulster can get to work quickly. People working in Manhattan but living in Ulster can catch...

Northern Dutchess runs along the majestic Hudson River so it is not uncommon for someone buying a house in the area to ask: Are there marinas in Northern Dutchess? You might think most people living along the Hudson have direct access to it, that is not the case.   When the railroad tracks were constructed at the time it seemed like a great idea to put them right along the river. Today, I am sure it would not have been allowed.  So, with that in mind most people now need to go to one of the Marinas to get access to the river.  There are a few exceptions, for example, in Barrytown, a village in the Town of Red Hook, the train tracks went inland, so, if you happen to have a home in this area you will have direct access to the river.     This  is a picture of Rhinecliff near the Amtrak S...

Wordless Wednesday-Ice Anyone? When I am between appointments I like to enjoy a few moments alone.  Today I drove down to the docks in Rhinecliff and just watched the ice floating by. Amazingly, I found it soothing.  You guessed it; this ice was on the Hudson river.

Summer Fun on the Hudson River-Rhinecliff NY Today I took a drive down to the Hudson River in Rhinecliff NY and I could not believe the number of sailboats on the water.  Memorial Day weekend is certainly the kickoff to that summer season of fun. There is much to do in the Hudson Valley and because of the majestic Hudson River water sport is big here.  In the photograph the sailboat you are seeing is the FIASCO it came in close so I was able to get a good shot.  Today was a great day for sailing the temperature was in the seventies with a slight breeze.   Jennifer Fivelsdal - JFIVE HOMES REALTY LLC - 845-758-6842- jennifer@jfivehomes.com  www.jfivehomes.com  or www.midhudsonhomevalue.com   Flickr | Facebook | Linked-in |Twitter |suscribe to Blog    Copyright © by Jennifer Fivelsdal, all...

Yesterday in the late evening the weather was somewhat weird.  Heavy downpours, then nothing, then another downpour.  Finally I made it to the Kingston Rhinecliff Bridge and what an awesome sight! a rainbow; so I quickly grabbed the camera, yes I could do this because, you see, I was just a passenger.  **** Informational only; deemed reliable but is not guaranteed.

As a family we like to get out and take photographs.  This beautiful shot of the Esopus Meadow Lighthouse on a fozen Hudson River was taken by my husband; however I told him he lost the rights to it since he used my camera and there is no arguing with me since I have the disc....Lol This is just a way of thanking him for being my picture taking partner.                                                                 Rhinecliff Amtrak Station   Rhinecliff Train Station Is A Station With A View UpdateI get many calls for the train station at Rhinecliff also known as the Rhinebeck train station here is the number.Tel # 845-876-2729     Train website This station is perched on a hill above the Hudson River and does offer a great view of both the river and Catskill Mountains.  With an overpass  over the rail line you can walk or drive down to the waterfront.  It is also located just a a block from the  Rhinecliff Hotel. There is a wonderful event in Rhinebeck every year - this will be the 162nd year the Dutchess County Fair has come to the Dutchess County Fairgrounds in Rhinebeck, NY.  It is a long standing tradition of local families as well as visitors who come for all over the the greater New York area to attend the fair.  There is wonderful food (as in all the delicious but fattening things you should not eat) such as giant dishes of french fries, fried dough, steak and cheese sandwiches, things made of waffles, cotton candy, the list goes on and on!  Our family favorite is the milkshakes made by the local 4H Clubs.  They are made from fresh milk that comes from the cows at the fair.   The fair started as an agricultural fair and I am happy to say it is still a huge part of the fair. The 4H kids br...
