Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter - Home for the Holidays Program   Just about 3 years ago, right in time for Thanksgiving, my family adopted a new dog from the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter in Wantagh. The story became one of my earliest ActiveRain posts and can be found here at Home For The Holidays.  Annually, the animal shelter runs this program with free pet adoptions. This year, it's until January 5th, 2014. All pet adoption fees are waived, and vaccinations and microchipping, as well as free spaying and neutering, will be offered.
