By Claudia Jacobs For the Times Herald-Record Published: 2:00 AM - 02/06/11 Goodness, what a spate of rough weather we've had here in the Hudson Valley lately! But of course, I missed some of it because I was in Nevada. I'm happy to report I brought back more than bronchitis from the Real Estate Staging Association conference in Las Vegas. No, I didn't hit the jackpot in the casino, but it is official! I am truly honored to share the news of winning RESA's 2011 Staging Professional of the Year award for the Northeast region. It is a huge accomplishment to be recognized by my industry peers and judges, and I have to thank you, my readers, too, for your encouragement. The always engaging and entertaining Matthew Finlason of HGTV's "The Stagers" was our closing keynote speaker. His presen...

I was out doing a BPO last week and I was on a private dirt road and came around a bend and saw this field of grass with all these heads sticking up.  At first I couldn't figure out what they were as they were quite a distance away.  Then I realized as they began to rise and run away that it was all baby fawns.  By the time I got the camera out and was able to take a shot there was only a few but it was enough for you to get the idea.   When I first pulled around the bend, all I was really seeing was the tips of their ears.  It really was a beautiful site to see.            Photos by Debra Walsh, Copyright © 2010 Debra Walsh. This topic is something that can make or break a well-designed room.  I'm talking about clutter. It doesn't matter how much time or money you spend on decorating.  It doesn't matter how lovely the pieces are in each room.  It doesn't even matter how clean the house is.  If it's cluttered, it won't look good and it won't feel good. Dealing with clutter takes time. Be realistic and learn to let go of things that are no longer serving any purpose in your life. It can be stuff you want to get rid of but have not taken the time to deal with.  Another excuse is that it is still good and you just don't know what to do with all of it.  In extreme situations, therapy is the best way to deal with emotionally letting go of your stuff. Tackle one room at a time or one drawer, cabinet or closet. The...
