My wife and I decided to take a vacation on the way to a conference I am attending the next three days in Buffalo.  Although it is late September the leaves have not yet begun to change although the ride through the Catskills to the Southern Tier of New York State was beautiful. The Finger Lakes region of New York State is considered the Champagne Region.  The slopes along these lakes are perfect for growing wine grapes. We drove up the western side of Lake Seneca from Watkins Glen to Geneva. At Watkins Glen we saw this beautiful lake condo being developed by an old factory. Hiking the Finger Lakes Waterfalls. You might be surprised but there are many beautiful and large size waterfalls around the Finger Lakes. One of our favorite is the Buttermilk Falls State Park just south of Ithaca. There is a swimming area along with a beautiful hiking trail up the falls to several pools and smaller falls. Dogs on leash are allowed at this site but not at the swimming hole. Robert H. Treman State Park just down the road from Buttermilk has much larger swimming and picnic area for the family at the lower entrance and at the upper entrance there are beautiful hiking trails to the Lucifer Falls. Watkins Glen State Park at the bottom of Seneca Lake is one of the most famous of the Finger Lakes State Parks with 19 waterfalls along its course. Dogs are allowed on lease. Ther... 07/31/2014

Watkins Glen Grand Prix Festival 2012. I don't know about you, but I'm an 'old car' buff.  Old cars intrigue, delight and amaze me. It likely stems from being a wee girl, not much more than 1 or 2 years old and driving around with my Dad. He would point out every car to me and tell me it's name. He knew them all and still does. This resulted in me knowing more about cars by the time I started school than likely any other subject going. You can bet that when the opportunity arose to attend the Watkins Glen Vintage Grand Prix Festival this year, I jumped at it.  So many old cars in one little town I have never seen before.
