  The Akron Art Museum's outdoor summer concert series Downtown@Dusk will return for its 26th year on Thursday evenings from June 24 through Aug. 12 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Concerts will take place rain or shine. Concert-goers can enjoy local music with a lineup of eight bands whose genres range from reggae to rock. The free concerts will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the museum's High Street parking lot, or in the Beatrice Knapp McDowell Grand Lobby in case of rain. Food and beverages will be available for purchase on the terrace, and other activities, including Family Fun Nights and ArtTalks@Dusk, will take place on the lawn and in the auditorium, respectively. So he took a chance, a risk that not only kept his family from losing its home to foreclosure but also helped reduce a mammoth debt he likely never would pay off. "I had to either refinance or sell the home or I'd lose it," he said. The Portage Lakes are situated in the township of Coventry just south of Akron, Ohio. The township was established in 1806! Coventry township built the clocktower and park along East Reservoir. The Portage Lakes Division of Wildlife District 3 Headquarters is on Portage Lakes Dr. and they have a park there and a fish hatchery! This young couple were fishing at the District 3 park today on North Reservoir! Kieffer Marine is now located where Leighton' s Boathouse used to be on East Reservoir. The Akron Zoo is a wonderful way to spend a few hours.  The Akron Zoo is 1 of only 221 conservation zoos in the world.     My wife and two children visited yesterday and we had a lot of fun.  By the time we were done, our dogs were tired, and I got a few photos.  I am enchanted by jellyfish (even much more so when they are on one side of the glass and I am on the other).  I have been in the ocean with them in the past and have luckily avoided being stung by one one, but they are such visually amazing creatures, it's fun to watch them move.     I hope you make a trip to the Akron Zoo.  It's very manageable, easy to find, and very educational.   04/03/2010

I recently learned that a former colleague and friend's daughter received the highest honor an amateur soccer coach could get.  Keri Sarver, daughter of Karl and Joanne Sarver of North Canton, Ohio, was recently named the 2009 Coach of the Year for Girls by US Soccer.  Keri as also the Region II Coach of the Year for competitive girls. Well, it happened again... another showing was lost because a first time home buyers' agent saw the listing was a short sale.  She did what every responsible buyers' agent would do and asked the listing agent just where she was in negotiating the short sale.  And the response came back, "Well to be totally honest we haven't really done much yet."  So, the questioning continued and the buyers agent asked "Have you sent in a package?"  "What type of loan will you be shorting?" "Is there a second lien?" And as the replies ranged from "I am not sure" to "I don't know," the buyers agent realized she should probably steer clear of this listing, if she wanted to be sure her buyers would qualify for the oft sought after First Time Home Buyers Credit.  Yes, it seems to be a necessary evil these ... 03/09/2010

So much for global warming! We are getting pummeled with snow here in Ohio! I am so sorry that I didn't buy that snowblower last summer when they were on sale!
