Children of all ages delight in the holiday lights that surround Lake Anna in Barberton Ohio during the Christmas season. Barberton uses Lake Anna for a backdrop for many of its city's events throughtout the year. The poinsettias are my personal favorite of the holiday lights at Lake Anna! The snowman is all his winter glory! The nativity scene at Lake Anna in Barberton, Ohio is a beautiful sight! The sled riding scene shows the other lights across the lake, so that you can get an idea of the size of Lake Anna, the jewel and centerpiece of Barberton, Ohio. The gazebo in its holiday lights is the center for entertainment in the summer months at Lake Anna in Barberton, Ohio. Veronica Krug and the Back Alley Gatorz played at the Suburb Inn in Coventry last Friday. They really rocked out! She is one of the most energetic lead singers in Akron area! You really must come out to hear them next Friday, Oct. 30th at the Innfield Lounge in Barberton at 861 Wooster Road West. They are going to be dressed for Halloween and they will have a costume contest with prizes! It will be an entertaining night!! Y'all come! Debbie Ring, Pam Keenan and Andrea Hyatt wore colonial dresses and big hats made out of recycled plastic bags to the AABOR Trade Expo at Guy's Party Center in Akron, Ohio on Friday, October 2, 2009! They won first place in a poll of the attendees at the Expo! They were so adorable! They are really good title representatives from Lawyers Title in Akron, Ohio! Congratulation Debbie, Pam and Andrea! A fun time was in the making and the Akron Area Board of Realtors came through again with a great meal and 5 hours of very up to the minute continuing education about Social Networking and Blogging by Brad Hanks! Barberton, Ohio is well known for it's annual Mum Fest that brings young and old alike to celebrate fall and gather with friends and family to enjoy the change of season.      Barberton Ohio homes were born of Ohio Columbus (O.C.) Barber's vision in the late 1800's. As a visionary industrialist, Barber was one of the wealthiest men in early Akron. His vision was more in line with early Pennsylvania towns that mixed quality residential developments with industry surrounding. As Akron was developed with industry all around, i.e. Goodyear, Firestone, General Tire and Seiberling, Barber looked outside of then Akron and found an area to his liking. Mostly farmland and rural, Barber purchased large lots of land near Norton Ohio and moved his companies, Diamond Match Co, a packaging company for his matches and a sewer pipe company. Summit County, Ohio has been blessed with numerous athletic heroes as well as many others who excelled in other fields.  The likes of Jesse Owens, Nate Thurmun, Hal Naragon, Dante Lavelli, LeBron James, etc. hailed from Summit County Ohio. Glenn "Jeep" Davis was also one of those special athletes who made his home in Summit County, Ohio. Glenn "Jeep" Davis made his impact on our community in several ways.  He was best known for his achievements in track and field at The Ohio State University as well as the 1956 and 1960 Olympics. But "Jeep" Davis also played professional football for the Detroit Lions (2 seasons) and was and educator and coach at Barberton High School (Barberton, Ohio).   Barberton, Ohio is celebrating 50 years since the mum had been named the city's official flower.  They included a unique approach to this celebrating by inviting couples to renew their vows who are celebrating their 50th anniversary as well.     Six couples renewed their vows while standing beside a multicolored, chrysanthemum-shaped arch along Lake Anna at the annual Mum Fest. Renewal of vows and co-celebrating local resident's golden anniversary added something special to this year's "mumfest."    50 years is a long time and certainly includes numerous memories for everyone involved.  The city of Barberton has several special events over the course of a hear but this one will be a very special one for those couples who participated in this special anniversary. There's plenty to do there for young and old at Lake Anna in Barberton, Ohio. It's beautiful and peaceful, but it also comes alive for many Summer concerts, festivals and arts & crafts shows. I hope you enjoy the pictures! This first one is just shows the lake itself. The lake is 1 full mile around the edge and a favorite for walkers in the morning because of the wide, smooth sidewalk that goes all the way around it (and the strategically placed benches to rest on!). Families come out with kids and strollers to walk the grounds and get a lillte fresh air and sunshine. They take bread and feed the ducks and swans (don't get too close to the swans). Uhhh Huhhh, Uhhh Huhhh It's TRUE!! Elvis was in Barberton on Friday night, and if you weren't among the 500 people waiting at 5am to dash in and set up your lawn chairs like my Mother-In-Law did, you probably couldn't find a blade of grass close enough to the gazebo at Lake Anna in Barberton (where his concert was held). But you could sure hear it, and it was an utterly fantastic concert by Mike Albert, a fabulous Elvis impersonator! In fact, when intermission came in the long concert, and they said Mike would be back in a little bit, there was a split second where I thought "Mike who?" - he was that good!!
