Paying It Forward:  ONE DROP at a time!  We'd planned to attend the Cirque du Soleil's performance of OVO at Coney Island this afternoon, but the April showers, well there's been a LOT of them!  So much so that the Ohio River has decided to claim much of Coney Island as it's own and performances have been canceled Friday...then Saturday...and late yesterday, today's schedule too. And Cirque du Soleil does a good job with notifications.  We got the email notification of the cancellation and then immediately thereafter the credit card refund notification.  And something caught our eye on the email, just a little blurb towards the bottom about ONE DROP, a Cirque du Soleil supported NGO (non-governmental organization). ONE DROP was founded by Guy Laliberte in 2007 in Montreal Canada.  Guy i...

Cincinnati Ranked #7 in Most Romantic Cities in America Amazon.com recently reviewed Cincinnati's reading habits.  Evidently, we have lots of L-O-V-E here!  Per capita, Cincinnati area residents bought more than the average number of romance novels and relationship books, romantic comedy movies, Barry White albums and wellness products.  Amazon's methodology looked at cities with over 100,000 residents.  The top 5 cities are Alexandria, VA; Knoxville, Tenn.; Orlando, Fla.; Miami, Fla; and Ann Arbor, Mich.  Not only is Cincinnati ranked in the top 20, Dayton, Ohio comes in at Number 19.  Lots of love to go around here, (even from the Cincinnati mascot, Porkopolis, shown in picture)!

Local Market Monitor, a North Carolina firm that provides investors with analysis on local conditions, has named Cincinnati to its "Most Undervalued Cities List." Interestingly, we are one of five Ohio cities on the list of 15 that are undervalued. The company looks at economic and population growth, construction costs, vacancies, household income and interest rates.  Employment and job sector growth figure into the equation heavily.  They also evaluate metropolitan areas where buyers would tend to pay more for homes because it is considered a more desirable location.  San Diego, because of weather and ocean-side location, would have such a buyer's premium. Two cities received their worst possible rating, "Frankly Dangerous".  Those were Las Vegas (home prices down 52%) and Orlando (hom...

Cincinnati Is Listed #3 on Top 20 Most Frugal Cities List by Coupons.com   According to Coupons.com, residents of Cincinnati used the site's online coupons third on the list of cities across the nation.  Most frugal was Atlanta, then Tampa.  We were followed by St. Louis, Minneapolis, Charlotte, Nashville, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Raleigh.  Results were weighted according to each city's population. With the sting of the recession being felt throughout the country, a growing number of Americans are using online coupons, some utilizing 20-50 coupons a week.  Ohio is the most frugal state, represented on the list by Cleveland at #8 and Columbus at #19.
