Lortondale homes for sale in Tulsa - My first real estate experience in the Lortondale subdivision was representing a gentleman who was selling his parents’ home, an original “showcase” home built when the Lortondale subdivision began in the 1950s. Although I have never been a huge fan of paneling, this home had the most amazing preserved mahogany paneling, cabinets and doors throughout the home. The Seller did all that he needed to do to prepare the home for sale, and we had a contract within four days of listings – in fact, we had multiple offers and much interest in the home. From that listing, I picked up two additional buyers – one of which wound up purchasing a home in another neighborhood, but the other buyer (Tom) was adamant about living in Lortondale. The Lortondale neighborhood has begun steps for placement on the National Register of Historic Places.  You surely remember Lortondale from my previous post about mid-century architecture.   If you surf over to the neighborhood's website (the neighborhood is on myspace also), I read a few really interesting facts about this unique area. Lortondale was the first neighborhood in the nation with central H&A in every home. Lortondale was the first neighborhood in Tulsa with a neighborhood pool. The developer & architect of Lortondale built four "prototype" homes to test public opinion before beginning the first tract.  I wish the Lortondale neighborhood much luck in their quest for placement on the NRHP and thank them for their efforts to preserve & promote this chunk of Tulsa history!
