Hey Burt is that President Obama's dog?  Don't know Ernie, looks like it.  Maybe we should grab it and give Barrack a quick call.  Check for it's passport, you know theres new laws now to get over the border.   Hey, if any you guys got a direct line to the Prez, let us know so we can help our Mountie friends out. Have a Great Day, Al and Peggy Cunninghamhttp://www.TheHousePeople.com

We are getting fed up.  It seems the "art of negotiating" is a dying breed.  It doesn't matter if the asking price is dead on, you still get offers to purchase $20,000 off the listing price.  The Seller is serious, that's why he listed the property dead on.  He wants to negotiate, but where do you start?.  Our asking price is the same as the last five sales.  Okay, we come to grips with this back and forth, back and forth and finallly we are in agreement.  Hold on, the offer is subject to doing a home inspection. Now, we are sure all of our AR Home Inspector friends would agree that it would be hard to do a home inspection without finding something wrong with the house, even things the Buyer was already aware of.  This in just ammunition for the Buyer/Buyer's Agent to try to beat the ag...

It was another great weekend.  Little rain on Sunday, but the grass and flowers needed it.  We were up in Orillia, ON on the Saturday to check out the annual Boater's Christmas in June event for 2009.  Imagine, Christmas in June.  Us Canadians have a hard time relating to Christmas without snow.  We know a lot of you would have a hard time believing it also, so here's some proof.     We had to show you that little video, Christmas songs in June, crazy eh? Check these pics, some of the Captains and their crew went all out decorating their boats.  Different themes were abundant.  One boat had over 15,000 lights.     Everything continued to heat up through out the day.  People were lining up along the shore waiting for the parade of lights.  The sun went down... the lights came on and ahoy...

Well summer has officially arrived and in the GTA it's been very HOT.  I'm not complaining ... this warm weather was long overdue and much anticipated.  But no matter what the conditions, you can always hear someone commenting on the weather. When selling your home at this time of year, you want to ensure that the inside temperature is comfortable.  Not too frosty please !  Most people will be dressed for the heat and will simply shiver indoors, causing them not to linger. Many people keep the blinds down and draperies drawn in an attempt to keep out the heat.  However, when showing your home to potential buyers, this tactic will make the home feel dark, drab and dingy.  Let the sun shine in to brighten each room.If you have a woodburning fireplace, disguise the unused opening with a dec...

City of Brampton The City of Brampton is also known as the "Flower City" and flowers they have.  Tens of thousands of flowers planted through out the city.  In excess of 266 square miles and having about 4,000 acres of parkland and open spaces.  With an estimated population of 500,000 people and growing, Brampton is ranked as one of Canada's largest and fastest growing cities.   < Brampton is a wonderful city to live in and to work in.  The parks, the trails and the recreation centres are in abundance. We just want to concentrate today of Chinguacousy Park, which is located between Central Park and Bramalea Road on the north side of Queen St. What a park... There is just about everything you can think of to do.  From a casual stroll, to a game of baseball.  Feed the ducks and the geese ...

Good Morning Everyone, Yesterday we lost an ICON, "Kodachrome Film" today we lost another ICON "Ed McMahon".  We are sure a lot of you will remember the famous introduction "Here'ssssss Johnny" as Ed introduced Johnny Carson for years.  You probably know Ed as the man giving away those poster size checks in the TV commercials. Ed dies at 86 years old.  Our condolences to the family. Al and Peggy

Did you hear the news?  After 70+ years Kodak announced today that they were going to stop the production of "Kodachrome" film.  They reported that sales of the film were way off the mark and represented a very small portion of their overall sales. You know, since we bought our first point and shoot digital camera some years ago, our Nikon F90 which was one of the best when we bought it; is now hidden somewhere in a closet.  Just checked, still got rolls of unused film.  Maybe it will be worth something to a collector 50 years down the road. Our biggest dilemma today is whether to buy a high end Nikon SLR type or a high end video camera capable to take individual shots?                                           Or               Any ideas, love you to pass them along.  Video seems to be ...

Yesterday was Father's Day, the first day of summer and a marvelous day! Mother Nature said YES! It's the first day of summer and she is going to show us what summer is all about.  Yesterday kicked it off with a sun filled 25 degree Celsius day, absolutely perfect and the week is forcasted to be full of sunshine for the next 7 days with temperatures all the way up to 28 degrees Celsius.  Finally!                              Wildlife was out in full, frolicking in the sunshine.  We spotted a little brown weasel scampering around, pocking his head out of little holes, jumping in the water and swimming only to come right out again and run along the grass.  Chipmunks busy collecting nuts and seeds, boy they work hard. We caught these little cuties, bobbing with Mommy. Here they are in acti...

What's on your agenda this summer... if summer ever gets here according to the weather not the calendar.  It's been raining pretty much all day here in Orillia, ON Canada but the weather man is promising a hot sunny day tomorrow, the first official day of summer also known this year as Father's Day. What we were going to suggest as a day outing this summer, is to make your way to what is known as Lock 44. Lock 44 is the second last lock in the Trent-Severn Waterway and is almost 233 miles by boat from the City of Trenton.  By the way, if you entered the Trent-Severn Waterway at Port Severn, Lock 44 would be your second stop. So, why Lock 44?  Well, Lock 44 is also known as The Big Chute. It is the only marine railway of it's kind in North America, it will amaze you.  Picture yourself bo...

We know it is Friday Foto day, but caught this gal out on the side of the road yesterday and wanted to share her with you.  For some reason she didn't want to be with the rest of the herd.  We stopped on the shoulder of the road, got the camera out and she just gave us a big smile and look of "don't bother me"    We were just wondering if this cow was giving us a lesson... "is the grass greener on the other side of the fence" she sure thinks so.  Have A Great Day! Al and Peggy Cunninghamhttp://www.TheHousePeople.com

Being a Real Estate Agent comes with many hats.  It's not just filling in some paper work, banging a "for sale" sign in the ground and sitting back waiting for a little bird to drop you an offer from the skies. Nowadays Agents have to be ad writers, photographers, sign installers, stagers, appraisers, finance advisers, babysitters, physiologists, negotiators, chauffeurs and heaven knows many other things we can't think of right now.  Yes we can get help from people who specialize in individual parts of the home selling process... but for a fee. I guess what we were getting at, is the average "Joe Public" doesn't realize all the things that are necessary to get a house sold and for a good price. When we get a BIG THANK YOU, it makes it all worthwhile.  Here's a little slide show we wante...

Beautiful and quaint City of Orillia nicknamed the Sunshine City is 125 km from downtown Toronto.  It is bordered by picturesque Lake Simcoe and Lake Couchiching and is a couple of miles from the Casino Rama. Saturday June 13th was a busy day for this City of 30,000+. First there was the launching of the Firefighters Relief Poker Run.  Early bird registration cost $375.00 and then registration was $475.00.  These cigar/cigarette (gas guzzling) boats now were set to run at 55 mph as opposed to the 90 -150 mph they used to run at in past years.  This was a great charity event! http://www.performanceboatclub.ca/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=57&Itemid=1  While the Poker Run was underway, the City recognized the Grand Opening of Giant Tiger a discount department store.  http://ww...

Wanted to share some information with you that could help the debt load of some of your clients.  We were invited to meeting of our peers in our RE/MAX club level.  About 300 were in attendance.  It's always a place of ideas from the best of the best. Walter J. Schneider co-owner of RE/MAX Ontario-Atlantic Canada Inc. was the keynote speaker and brought up a very interesting fact with regards to storage units. He said that there are in access of 60,000 storage centres in North America.  That's centres not units.  He has a friend that owns about 15,000 units.  Theses units are usually paid on a monthly basis and the norm is that 150-200 units fall in arrears for non-payment each month.  The usual notices are sent and eventually the contents of the units are seized to be sold to recover t...

When you listen to the news each day and hear how much a barrel of oil is, it makes you wonder what the price they charge us at the pumps has anything to do with the barrel cost. Up our way, weathers getting warmer, nice time to take a drive... oh goodness, look at that 99.5 cents a litre, up from 94.7 cents yesterday.  Guess they didn't pump enough barrels yesterday. Our energy stocks took a big hit and they are not climbing like the prices at the pumps.  It's fixed... we don't care what they are telling us. Oh well, just got on that topic as we were blogging... heard a loud noise, here's what it was.     These guys have 2 and 3 engines, they don't get miles per gallon they get gallons per mile.  Guess they own the barrel company. Have a Great Boating Day! Al and Peggy Cunninghamhttp:/...

A couple of years ago we never even heard of the Portuguese Water Dog until we met our new neighbours next to our cottage who had just moved in.  No little kids could be seen but suddenly a bouncing ball of wool came bounding over to meet us.  This was our first time seeing a Portuguese Water Dog (Isabella, Bella for short).    If you want to know all the technical stuff about the breed you can check with wikipedia or read on.  Bella is one of the smartest dogs we know.  We could be just arriving at the cottage, haven't even emptied our hands and Bella is at the door.  We guess the doggie treats have something to do with it. Bella comes to visit 5 or 6 times a day.  Grabs a treat, plops down for a snooze and sometimes an hour will go by and we forgot Bella was still here.  Oh well, Jerr...

A few weeks ago we had asked Active Rain Members who were using Point 2 websites what they thought of it and the response was overwhelmingly "GO FOR POINT 2"!  We signed up for the standard web site at first and quickly upgraded to the professional site that we are so happy with today.  We have found it to be: l.  Very flexible2.  Easy to use and are able to add features 3. You can personalize it, so it is unique to you4. The support personnel are excellent as well We have been adding our listings, blogging on it, adding features, re-arranging how it looks as well as recording our listing appointments, feedback and activity, with ease. The Seller's site may just be the best portion of the Point 2 system!  We input all the activity on their property and provide the Sellers with their o...
