Its that time of year again. As winter approaches, we are entering another flu season. We can help reduce the spread of influenza through a proactive regimen including frequent good handwashing, covering our coughs and sneezes (or coughing into our elbows), staying home when sick, but the best way to prevent the spread of influenza is to get vaccinated every year. The influenza vaccine is recommended for everyone over the age of six months who is not allergic to the vaccine. A recent study showed that the influenza vaccine results in a reduction of 30,000 visits to hospital emergency departments, 1,000 hospitalizations and 300 deaths in Ontario alone. A Flu Clinic will be held at the Innisfil Public Library Lakeshore Branch, 967 Innisfil Beach Rd. on Wednesday November 9th. Appointments...

Profit in Real Estate Investing in a Down Market With the all the bad news in the media ( and yes if you read my blog you know what I think of the media reports on real estate), I thought it would be a good time to discuss the real estate investing technique/strategy that works in up markets as well as a down market.  And I must say now, especially in a down market. There are many strategies to make lots of money in real estate investing. Some are more riskier then others. Anything to do with speculation is NEVER the approach that I adhere to.  And yet contrary to the previous comment, I have many a fellow investor who made a killing in Alberta (for example) from 2005-2007. They bought espousing "an educated viewpoint" by telling me that growth was inevitable for Alberta because of all ...

In Real estate there are always conflicting news headlines. One says good economic news another says bad. As reported (blogged) before and here again I say LOOK AT THE FUNDEMNATALS. I read today "US economy posts robust Q2 3.3% gains"... (National Post) and right beside it "Canada's surplus rises to $6.8Billion" . Hardly recessionary wording. Yet yesterday I read "US prices rise, housing Slump Deepens" (Globe and Mail) and "US Home builder stay grim".  In a two day period these are the financial headlines. As home owners and real estate investors what are we to make of all this conflicting news?  I say....nothing. That's right....nothing. We have wild sensational swings in news stories so which one is right?....I say...nothing.  As an investor with lots of exposure to the real estate ma...

Slow summer, stats are showing 20% more listings, 20% less sales but avarage prices are still going up. Not by much but still 2%-3% year over year.Last couple a years prices were increasing at 6%-10% a year, so I would say sales are flat.It is a Buyer's market. It is going to be better in coming months. Or not?
