Named for the native name of Lake St. Clair, the Ganatchio Trail is an 8 km trail extending from the City of Windsor to the Town of Techumseh.  It winds along Riverside Drive and provides both an asphalt pathway and landscaped green areas for walking, jogging, biking, and rollerblading.  The attached Clairview Bikeway and Rotary Ganatchio Extension provide quiet landscaped bike paths running through residential streets and a 200-acre naturalized wildflower park, respectively.

Have you ever tried growing large, giant vegetables? Like those huge pumpkins or giant carrots that you see in a state fair? It is not as difficult as it sounds and with a little trial and error, you too can have oversized vegetables lording over your vegetable patch! The secret is that no special seeds or manure is needed….any vegetable can be grown to an extreme size by following the correct growing procedure. For vine vegetables, the first set has the greatest chance to grow large. As other sets start appearing, prune them off so that only the original set is left. Every week use a water soluble fertilizer to enrich the soil. Watering regularly and often is vital .Otherwise the fertilizer is likely to eat into the plant. With root vegetables the soil needs to be broken up well and p...

16-07-04 Disturbed by those ugly marks staining your otherwise pristine carpet? Try a couple of these handy tips for quick and easy removal of common household stains! Most common stains can be removed with bar of Ivory soap and an old toothbrush. “I have removed furniture polish, red wine, tomato sauce and grape jelly stains…” says the contributor of this tip. All one has to do is rub some soap on the stain, scrub with an old toothbrush and rinse well. For those battling candle wax residue on carpets, the solution is just as easy. The best way to remove these stains is by placing a damp clean white cloth over the area, and then placing a hot iron over the cloth. The heat and steam from this combination will melt the wax and adhere it to the cloth, hence allowing for easy removal. Repe...

16-07-03 Young children and crayon marks inevitably go hand in hand! The situation can be countered by covering a part of the wall with construction paper and encouraging your child to only scribble there. But if this fails here are some ways by which you can remove the crayon marks from your walls. Clean the area of the wall you want to tackle with a clean dry cloth or sponge. This will remove the dust and loose dirt. Using a spatula scrape off as much of the crayon as you can. Don’t forget to clean the spatula between scrapes to avoid adding new smudges to the wall! Sprinkle some baking soda on a damp piece of cloth and rub the stains vigorously with it. As the stains start coming off, keep changing the folds of the cloth so that you always have a clean surface to rub the wall with. ...

Who Else would Like to know Why Trees Need Pruning? Nature ensures that trees in the wild are pruned automatically by natural elements. Landscaped trees however need a bit of extra care to ensure their health and longevity. Pruning thus is a vital part of tree maintenance, especially in urban and semi urban areas.  Trees are usually pruned to remove dead branches or to deal with potential hazards like hanging or drooping limbs. It is also used to allow more light and air to reach right inside the crown of the tree as well as the landscape below it. One may want to prune a tree to make it more aesthetic and in harmony with other landscape elements.  Some believe that regular pruning can improve the health of the tree. But that is not always so. Too much pruning can actually harm the tre...

Resale to Cool in 2008     The resale home market in Windsor-Essex, which peaked in 2005, will continue to slow in 2008 and2009. Sales through the Windsor-Essex Real Estate Board will soften a further three per cent to4,850 units. Historically low mortgage rates and lower prices will keep the resale market from fallingfurther. The Windsor CMA is considered one of the more affordable homeownership markets in anymajor metropolitan market in southern Ontario. The ratio of required income needed to carry themortgage on an average priced home to actual household income received on average byhomeowners in the Windsor CMA is well below that of neighboring communities.Source:  CMHC                                                                                                                  ...

It is currently a buyer's market in Windsor and Essex County and there are a lot of great investment opportunities.  Now is the perfect time to buy a bigger, better house or to invest in a second home.  In addition to the great opportunity to find affordable prices and good deals, the new Land Transfer Tax refund incentives should also make home buying a little more affordable.  But, remember, now more now than ever is the time to seek the professional services of a realtor to take advantage of all the market has to offer.
