Condominiums are popular with our Oregon State buyers. There's a strong argument for the convenience and reduced cost of living closer to Portland. Lake Oswego is close enough to Portland's financial district and certainly nice enough to accommodate luxury condominiums for people that desire this lifestyle. Condo's offer many benefits. Property taxes are lower and less yard maintenance is required. Also, homeowners have the network of neighbors to offer safety and comradery. Some owners travel for business. Others have second homes in dryer and warmer climates. They like having a condominium here in Oregon to stay while visiting with family and friends during certain months of the year. Cooper Jacobs Real Estate assists both buyers and sellers that have figured out what they're looking ...

Dunthorpe Properties FOR SALE   I was traveling through the area on my way back from Tryon Creek...   and saw signs for ESTATE SALE. I'm like a canine with a desire to chase...squirrel! "There he goes!!" Whatever was on my mind now lost as I start following the signs & balloons and headed for the sale. I can't help myself in these snazy Portland neighborhoods to check on the estate sale Dunthorpe listings and properties to see what treasures are selling fast. Often times the serious antique buyers are lined up at the homeowners front steps before doors open. Sometimes there are good things to see and often times my quest results in disappointment. That's ok because estate sales are similar to chasing real estate. take the good with the even better when searching for the next listing. Pa...

Padlocks on Portland Bridges Display LOVE The tradition of showing off a couples love for one another has been demonstrated all over the world. Portland bridges that span the Willamette river are no exception and during a recent river walk we took pictures. It seems that most of the locks with names and dates are recently added and crews regularly remove them. The ones that are left hanging are routinely painted over when maintenance teams comes through and slap paint on the metal fencing. I have never thought about locking my own terms of affection to a fence. To be honest...I had never heard of locking love to a bridge. Does that make me out of touch, less romantic or non committal?  NOT at all! I simply was uneducated in this gesture of everlasting love. Now that I have been enlight...

WELL DONE - It's Memorial Day WEEKEND! It's looking like Summertime around here. Mind you, we have had plenty of warm days and weeks mostly in the 80 degree range but the torrential downpours keep coming. This maintains that landscaping stays green and flowers blossoming. The Portland real estate market is heating up with the season. We are now seeing GREAT new listings come online almost daily. I'm currently looking for real estate and representing clients right here in Portland and also out at the Pacific Ocean. In Portland's northern region the Pearl District has THESE CURRENT LISTINGS: They range in price from $1,950,000 for two thousand two hundred thirty nine square feet (built in 2007) to around $449,900 to own one thousand one hundred nine square feet (built in 1925). These prop...

Searching For Loch Ness Or Armed Forces Day On The Willamette? Yesterday was a busy day on the Willametter River with the usual fishing boats that line up in the wee hours of the morning, the power boats, and kayakers. For the first time though, I noticed two boats going by full of uniformed military. Not knowing what this was, I quickly grabbed my camera and posted my picture on Facebook. Of course I got the usual clever comments, like "they finally found you" and perhaps they're searching for Lock Ness", but then a past neighbor let me know that it was Armed Forces Day. Huh, how come I didn't know about this? I did a quick search on the website of my local news and nothing. Although the fisherman/women have issues with the sea lions that I see swimming around occasionally, I'm gonna g...

The Portland Waterfront Run:   Portland has some wonderful hikes and trails - that has never come into question.  This entire Portland Oregon region lives and breathes the great green outdoors so why wouldn't there be some of the most amazing places to run, walk, hike, or bike?  This is one of the urban trails we like.. If you live anywhere in the Portland area this waterfront loop is a nice daily walk and a "must do" for your out of town visitors. If you live in one of the many gorgeous Pearl District condos or other nearby Portland neighborhoods, then this Portland waterfront river walk would be a great daily ritual!     There is lots of information online if you are interested in a PDX hike or other outdoor activity.   The Portland Running Company is just one of those great resources...

A Buyer's Face Tells All When It's "The One" As I was showing a client homes the other day, I asked her what she thought about the one we were in. She said "Ya know, on paper it checks off everything on my list, so am I being too picky if I say It's not for me?". It's been tough for buyer's looking in certain neighborhoods in Portland that have about a month or so of inventory. We were actually lucky to find five homes to preview on this day, but none would end up being "the one". The pressure on a buyer to offer quickly knowing the home will sell fast is something we are seeing lots more of and it can push a buyer to offer on a home that isn't really what they want. My answer to her was that she wasn't being too picky. You see, I've seen that look on her face, the body language that ph...

Everyone knows by this point...April 22, 2014 is Earth Day. We simply wanted to acknowledge the day and spread the word that every single day is worth protecting the environment. Cooper Jacobs Real Estate makes a daily effort to spend less and save more. We recycle paper and plastic at our Seattle and Portland offices. All the printer cartridges are taken to the proper facilities and disposed of or recycled. We tend to walk instead of drive to the cafe for our cup of coffee courage in the morning.       Classis car owners want to protect their investment from the elements and most folks in living in the Pacific Northwest appreciate pulling into a garage in order to unload the groceries from the automobile. Garage space is coveted in many of Portland's neighborhoods. Homes in Hillside, a neighborhood of Portland, demand a premium price for parking space on the property and can make or break a buyers decision to purchase based on garage space. Lake Oswego homes and the suburb of Beaverton have so many classic and expensive luxury cars. They need to be parked out of the rain & cold. In other parts of the World where parking cars comes with a premium price, garage space is being designed into the structure of the building. In Sunny Isles Beach, Florida we hear that in 2015 the Porsch...

By Maureen Bray Portland OR Home Stager ~ Room Solutions Staging, "Staging Consultations that Sell Portland Homes"
(Room Solutions Staging, Portland OR)
As home stagers in Portland, Oregon we often see homes that linger on the market, homes that aren't professionally staged but that could use a stager's help to improve their appeal to potential buyers.  We've noticed that Portland homes that were built about 20 years are showing their age!   These homes were built in the early-to-mid 1990's; they often sport brass light fixtures and hardware, oak cabinets, wallpaper, and pastel-colored walls. Today's savvy buyers prefer a home that looks "move in ready."  They've watched HGTV and want a home that's fresh, modern, and that doesn't require their time and money once they've moved in .... they want their weekends free to enjoy their family, friends, and leisure activities. Room Solutions Staging was asked to provide a staging quote for this...

Hillside features parks and a cozy number of households. This neighborhood of Portland, Oregon is only .47 square miles total in area and is valuable real estate. Check out the map for Hillside Portland, Oregon. Many of the homes are around a million when they are listed FOR SALE and this is over $300 per square foot. Check out the current listings in Dunthorpe Courtesy Cooper Jacobs Real Estate Located immediately South of Portland, OR city limits is the prosperous suburb of Dunthorpe. This unincorporated suburban area is a short commute to Oregon's financial district and dedicated to residential development. A very nice area to live for sure. An interesting fact is that Dunthorpe and Oswego Lake are connected in history. The Oregon Iron & Steel Company SOLD 215 acres to William M. Ladd in 1916 and he proceeded to develop Dunthorpe. The neighborhood remains home to some of the most impressive estates Portland has to offer. Historically, Lake Oswego and the Oswego Lake were developed by the Oregon Iron & Steel Company to become the Pittsburgh of the West. Three hundred plus workers would smelt iron o...
