It is troubling that 60+ Toyota owners claim their cars are not fixed.  Toyota issued the largest recall in history.    Uncontrolled acceleration has killed over 30 people and injured scores more. It came to light during testimony before Congress that Toyota may have withheld critical documents from litigants.  Those documents would indicate Toyota was aware of the problem much earlier than they have admitted.    The companies lack of timely response is quite evident, and may have led to the death of owners, after the company was informed. We are seeing "warm and fuzzy" commercials from Toyota every day.  These commercials promise the company's focus is total customer satisfaction.  Toyota claims they are working 24/7 to repair recalled vehicles and restore their company image and fait...

If this health care bill is so great - why can't it pass on its own merits? Tonight Obama is inviting a select few who voted NO on his health care bill to the White House for a little private "party".  This is a hand picked group of 10.  Is this a little pep talk?  Perhaps the long green mile to the firing squad?  It could not possibly be some back door horse trading could it? One of the lawmakers is Jim Matheson from Utah.  Obama just announced that he is appointing Jim Matheson's brother, Scott Matheson to a prestigious federal judgeship in Utah.  While Scott has passable credentials, some have offered he is not the most qualified for the position. Well, that might take care of Jim and buy his vote. It was just announced that Jim Matheson will not be at the White House tonight.  Let...

Just when you think you have heard it all - here we go. A bill has been introduced in Mass to ban the circumcision of boys under the age of 18.  It takes the right away from the parents to either accept or reject circumcision for their child. It is entitled “Massachusetts State Prohibition of Genital Mutilation Act" and referred to as An Act relative to the civil rights of certain medical procedures. Read Bill Here One spokes person cited the bill was to protect the civil rights of defenseless children.  Really that is laughable!    How about the rights of those with a beating heart that are being sucked daily from the mothers womb?  How about the child born alive as a result of a botched abortion, stuffed in a plastic bag to die?  What a bunch of hypocrites. There is no provision in ...

Charlie Rangel announced today that he is asking Pelosi for a leave of absence from the Ways and Means Committee until the Ethics investigation is over.  He refused to take questions from the press.  He indicated that he was going to get back to work passing the Presidents bills. Is it finally time for the Democrats to do the right thing?  Charlie Rangel has been embroiled in ethics issues for over a year.  He is the Chairman of the House Ways and Means committee.  This is one of the most powerful committees charged with, among other things, writing tax law. Tax evasion, or the appearance thereof, is exactly what is bringing Charlie Rangel down. He is also suspected of taking a trip to St. Martin on a Corporate dime. Hard to believe on his Congressional salary of $174,000 a year that h...

Last week I wrote a blog about Rashad Hussain. You might recall he was appointed a little over a week ago, personally by President Obama, as the White House Islamic Envoy. http://activerain.com/blogsview/1498613/latest-obama-appointee-another-controversy The sequence of events: Fox News reported that Rashad had attended a conference and was quoted as making sympathetic remarks regarding Sami al-Arian. Al-Arian had pleaded guilty to sponsoring Islamic Jihad.  A journalist wrote an article attributinging those quotes to Rashad. Fox News reported both the remarks and the fact that the original article had been "scrubbed" and his remarks removed. The White House Denied it. Fox News interviewed the original journalist and she insisted from her notes Rashad had indeed made those remarks.   ...

The actions by a school in Lower Merion School District outside Philadelphia Pa, should alert everyone of the danger that lurks in your computer. The school issued computers to students.  They were equipped with webcams.  They also contained a remote monitoring software.  This allowed access to the computer, which the student had in their possession, at any time school officials wished. Allegations of watching students undress and other activities have been waged against the school.  Lawsuit filed in Case. Federal prosecutors have gotten involved in the case. ABC News Article. Some time back I expressed my concern about computers with built in Webcams.  Here is a prime example of what can happen.  Besides the webcam you have no idea what software is preloaded on your computer which mi...

Earlier I wrote a blog regarding lucrative retirement agreements made with State, Federal and Union entities.  These accounts are referred to as 3 for 50 retirement accounts.  You can read my blog here: http://activerain.com/blogsview/1504081/3-for-50-retirement-accounts-bankrupting-states-and-unions The question is - how do we get out from under this unsustainable debt our States and Federal government have reaped upon us? The President has just signed a bill to convene a bi-partisan committee whose job it will be to report on measures to reduce our deficit. The first comment that comes to mind - Mr. President - lock the checkbook in a drawer! Some of the solutions this committee is likely to recommend are outlined in a blog by Dale Terry http://activerain.com/blogsview/1502321/defic...

Our new guidelines concerning rules of engagement in Afghanistan are troubling. In the beginning of the Vietnam War our troops were not allowed to engage the enemy unless fired upon first.  When my husband was in Nam the ammo for his gun was in a store room.  He was not able to carry a loaded weapon. Hundred of our troops lost their lives because of being ham strung by the administrations politically correct rules. Today we are doing the same thing with our current offensive in Afghanistan.  Didn't we learn anything from Vietnam? The Taliban are firing upon our soldiers while shielding themselves behind women and children.  Our military are not allowed to fire back. Collateral damage is not the goal of our country or our military.  No one wants to take an innocent life.  At the same tim...

Our intelligence community has been focusing on those who are likely to carry out assaults on American Citizens.  The typical profile used is middle eastern Islamic men from the age of 18-35.  Every attack carried out by Islamic extremest have indeed fit these parameters with respect to age, gender and Islamic affiliation. The enemy is constantly looking for the vulnerable and weak points in our security measures. As reported by the Christmas Day bomber Abdulmutallab , Al Qaeda has recruited English speaking men who are born either in the USA or Canada. They are currently being trained in Yemen. The theory is they will blend into our society and be less suspicious.  The Fort Hood shooter was American born Muslim. We can see that as the enemy adapts they succeed in piercing our defense ...

Those who criticize the administration are told they are unpatriotic.  It's wrong to speak out against the President of the United States say the Liberals.  I believe it is our Patriotic duty to SPEAK WITHOUT FEAR! Liberals attack Conservatives for expressing their opinions. Our Founding Fathers encouraged us to use our First Amendment rights.  The only way to assure that the government does not run over the rights of the people is to stand up and be heard. It amazes me that Liberals are the party of "Do as I say, Not as I do".  Liberals have very selective memories and forget the words of Hillary Clinton when she was sick and tired in 2003. Today looked really beautiful after the tremendous snow of the past two days. Early this morning I took some photos shortly after the sun broke through.  Today is blue skies, cold and just a super day. One photo I took was kinda comical to me.  The Igloo dog house in the dog yard has actually become an Igloo.

If you missed Sarah Palin's speech at the National Tea Party Convention last night you can watch it here.   Sarah is emerging as the voice of the Tea Party, not necessarily a candidate.  She said in her speech the movement should not be based on the platform of one candidate. It was not a top down movement. The Tea Party is also not deemed to be a third party or the new Republican party.  From what I understand the movement is a commitment to change.  It is not a party but a membership of like minded Patriots.  Dems, Republicans, Independents and Libertarians comprise the growing numbers of Tea Party members.  Tea Party members are committed to electing those who ascribe to less government, adherence to the Constitution, fiscal responsibility etc. This movement is a blending of like m...

A recent budget hearing on Capital Hill, became extremely contentious. Peter Orzack, the White House Budget Chief came before the committee to announce the TARP money repaid by the banks, was going to be used to loan money to small businesses.  Obama had just announced in his State of The Union Address that he would ease up loans for small business so they could start borrowing money again. Small business is the back bone of this economy.  More jobs are created by small business owners than any other aspect of industry in our country.  The problem with Obama's promise to the American public was, he had no funds to accomplish this, nor any legislation to present to Congress for approval.  He planned to by-pass Congressional scrutiny and oversight, by taking the funds repaid under the TA...

Ever wonder what Rush does for exercise?  I thought this was a joke this morning when I heard it. Rush was judging at the Miss America pageant.  All the judges stood up to strut their stuff to Poker Face sung by Lady Gaga. Well Rush stole the show with some pretty impressive disco moves.  Bravo to Rush for having a great sense of humor. Rush Limbaugh -- Dancing Fool

Our country is deeply embroiled in two wars far from home.  We hear stories of heroism and sacrifice.  Men and women who lived ordinary lives stateside are transformed into the stuff heroes are made from. In the blink of an eye they think not of themselves, nor the life they are about to forfeit, but only of others.  Throughout our history we can read about incredible acts of bravery under the most dire of circumstances. One such story is generations old. Four men who without a second thought sacrificed their own chance of survival to save others.    It's one of many tragic disasters that become long lost, except to historians and those who keep the flame alive.   While I know the story well, I was stunned one Sunday when my local priest devoted his homily to this incredible act.  The...

Looking to our Founding Fathers for guidance is eye opening.  Our country was founded by Patriots who risked everything, including their lives and fortunes to assure our country would be free from tyranny. Most Americans have never read our Constitution or our Bill of Rights.  These two documents are the foundation on which our country has flourished and remained free for over 200 years.  The Constitution is the road map to provide freedom to the people, and restraints to the government. Having fought against a powerful government these men knew that when a government got too much power, the people and their rights were weakened.  Thomas Jefferson documented his far thinking advice through voluminous quotes.  While short the concept is extremely meaningful, and the message should be c...

Thermal infrared inspections can pave the way to a healthier home. Lancaster Thermal home inspection clients have recently received their thermal imaging report containing numerous infrared digital images pin pointing their heat loss.  Scranton thermal inspection clients are really able to take advantage of their reports and save money. Though the weather has turned warm the last few days and yesterday we received nearly three inches of rain, the cold is right behind this frontal system, and with it comes higher thermostats, more heating oil, propane, coal, wood, or electric. A relatively inexpensive thermal scan would reveal areas without insulation, and even leaks around doors and windows.  Higher utility bills come with the colder weather.   Yesterday I was transfixed watching a poor dog who was trapped in the raging Los Angeles river.  He was walking on a narrow strip of land with water gushing and swirling past him on either side.  Attempts to get him from the shore had failed. He finally made his way to a retaining wall.  It was too steep for him to climb up and out of the river. The dog was getting tired and confused.  I was sure he was going to be swept away. I was hoping they would get a boat or helicopter to rescue him.  What made the rescue very dangerous was this portion of the river had high tension wires crossing over. A swift river rescue boat was trying to get to him, but they were having a hard time. Along came a helicopter.  His first approach failed because of the wires.  Finally he flew under the wires fr...

Who was one of the first to openly support Eugenics and Genocide?  One would think it was Hitler.  It was George Bernard Shaw. Listen to this chilling video recording his views and suggestions to creating a more perfect society.  Shaw called for the development of a Humane Gas to rid society of the undesirables. George Bernard Shaw and "the Humane Gas"   Do you realize America actually bought into this theory in the early 1920's and 30's?  We entered the realm of selective survival once before.  This revealing video will chill you.   War on the Weak: Eugenics in America   Bob Simon did a special for CBS News describing our foray into what can only be deemed as the survival of those the government saw fit.  60 Minutes Report John Holdren Obama's Science Czar seems to hold similar views....
