HARLEYSVILLE ROTARY HALLOWEEN PARADE SATURDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2011 Parade begins at 11:00 a.m. The Harleysville Rotary Club presents the 29th annual Harleysville Halloween Parade at 11 a.m. Saturday. Registration and lineup are at 9:30 a.m. at Indian Valley Middle School on Maple Avenue, Lower Salford. There will be prizes, entertainment and free food and drinks for everyone after the parade at the Harleysville Community Center. Food and drink will be provided by the Harleysville Rotary, Lions and Jaycees. Lower Salford police will collect new, unwrapped Toys for Tots along the parade route.    10/19/2011

Manufacturers say most extinguishers should work for 5 to 15 years, but you might not know if you got yours three years ago or 13. So how can you be sure it will fire away? Checking the pressure gauge monthly. If the needle is in the green area, it’s functional. If it falls anywhere else, the extinguisher is unreliable and should be serviced or replaced.   All smoke alarms should be tested at least once a month to make sure they operate properly. If a smoke alarm is battery operated, replace the batteries at least once a year to make sure the alarm will work when it is needed. It’s a good practice to make replacement of batteries a seasonal routine, such as when resetting clocks in the fall or spring.
