(Pocono Mountain Lakes Realty )
Tucked away in the northernmost corner of Lake Wallenpaupack in Wayne County sits the small Pocono town of Hawley, Pennsylvania. Hawley’s borough is picturesquely located on the Lackawaxen River. Looking for a small town? Look no further: the borough’s population is less than 1500 people. As is so often the case, though, this small town packs a ton of charm, and maybe never more so than during the Christmas season. For over twenty years, Hawley has rung in the holiday season with its own Hawley Winterfest. With 2023 being its 24th year, the Winterfest continues to grow and become more magical with each passing year. The three day holiday event includes no shortage of fun, from horse-drawn carriage rides, to walking tours, musical acts, and craft shows. Would it be Christmas without Sant...

The Annual Ice Tee Golf Tournament on Lake Wallenpaupack is set for Sunday, January 26, 2014. This is one of the best winter events on Lake Wallenpaupack. Participants are in great spirits, enjoying the cold while playing a sport that typically takes a hiatus in our winter climate. The tournament is presented by the Pocono Lake Region Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Ehrhardt's Waterfront Restaurant & Resort and Crystal Cabin Fever (very appropriate since it is owned by a full service ice event company) . The golf tournament is held on frozen Lake Wallenpaupack and is quite a site to see. Two 9-hold courses are created just like a "green" course - the organizers take the time to create lined fairways, greens, water traps, obstacles and roughs. Even though they may not have "golfed t...

Let's be real. I (sort of) stumbled into the Real Estate Industry. Not someplace I thought I'd end up. By trade, I am a marketer and entrepreneur. My husband and I own a successful tourism business on Lake Wallenpaupack in Pennsylvania. I’ve worked in cable marketing for 14 years and just recently left. My broker, Pete, is someone that I always respected as a smart, successful business man. Our families have been friends for years and my dad is a Realtor in the office (it’s in the blood!). When Pete approached me to run the vacation home rental division of the company. I jumped on it. I saw it as something that I could organize, market and take to the next level. The only catch… I needed to get my real estate license. I took the class, passed the exam and started renting out vacation ho...

I recently read this thought-provoking post by Tammie White regarding the use of wide angle photography in lisitng photos.  Apparantly, some feel that the use of wide angle photography is an ethical violation, because it makes rooms appear larger than they are. (Tammie does not feel that way; she was just sharing what was discussed in an ethics class she recently attended.)  I beg to differ with those crying "Unethical! Unethical!".  (Well of course I do, since wide-angle photography is one of my marketing tools!) It is true that a wide angle lens does cause some distortion, especially if the camera is not held correctly - and in the case of really small rooms it can give the illusion of more space than is actually there. Some wide angle photography, particularly taken with cheap adapte...
