Every fall, I get a hankering for Stayman-Winesap apples. And the best ones in the area come from Linvilla Orchards, outside of Media PA.  The apples are crisp and crunchy and slightly tart--great flavor!  I don't go there for the hayrides and other child-oriented activities, but I did break down and buy a couple of little pumpkins to put on the stone wall in front of my house. The last time I had a pumpkin outside, someone smashed it, so it put me off of pumpkins for several years.But this year, I have all the black and orange decorations in my living and dining rooms, and the fall grapevine wreath is on my front door, so guess I needed to spread some color outside too.  The display at Linvilla didn't seem as large as last year, but on a Friday afternoon, there were quite a few people ...

We are fortunate to live close to an operating orchard, Linvilla Orchard.Their website says it is on 300 acres of land, which helps to make the county feel less dense, with more open green space. When in season, there is nothing like fresh fruits and vegetables. We know the season for fresh fruit and vegetables can be short, so we stop by as often as we can.We have enjoyed their wonderful sweet corn and this year their peaches have been divine; juicy and very sweet.We opt to buy the peaches that do not look so pretty, you can't beat the price and they just seem to be juicier.  If you happen to be in Delaware County and crave those savory summertime treats, be sure to check out the fresh offerings at Linvilla Orchards.  Linvilla Orchards137 W Knowlton Rd, Media PA 19063
