When I was a teenager I had an older friend who was an art student at Tyler School of Art outside of Philadelphia and because of this friend and the art classes I took in high school I was exposed to the world of art, both of which I am very thankful. My love of certain art periods and artists are many, but one of my favorite artists is Vincent Van Gogh.  He was a troubled soul but had support from a brother who helped him live and pursue his art.  The thing I really like about Van Gogh's creations are his use of bold brilliant colors, blues, and the very thick application of paint.  I have seen a few of his paintings up close over the years and I just enjoy being in the room with these paintings.  They seem to give me a sense of peace, even though they were painted by a very troubled s... 11/18/2018

We entered the world of real estate before the wide spread use of the GPS. Taking out buyers to see a handful of houses required planning on my part to get the route in place so we would be on time for our appointments and to be familiar with the routes. I remember drawing maps on the back of each page I printed for each house we were going to visit if it was in a neighborhood I was not familiar with intimately. It is because of my mother that working with fibers, yarns and fabric will always be part of my life.From an early age I was taught to work with yarn, to sew by hand and to use a sewing machine.My mother had a Singer sewing machine that she used to make clothing and to mend things. She was always in the middle of a project and never had idle hands even while watching TV. I learned along with my sisters how to sew at an early age, how to crochet and to knit, how to darn socks. It is because of my father that I love and appreciate nature. I remember at an early age going for rides to Valley Forge Park with my dad and being let out of the car with a few of my siblings and just running, running, running down hills and in the woods and sledding down snow banks in winter, and walking in the woods while leaves were falling. These outings were usually done without my mother, she was home cooking for our large family. Is it time to take down my hummingbird feeder?I have only seen bees and insects at the feeder lately. But then I often do not see a hummingbird at my feeder because they tend to drink and hurry on. Sometimes in the really hot weather I see them feeding from flowers in the garden as well as feed at the feeder.There are only a few hummingbirds that hang around as it is.  And I know that only because they chase each other so only one can feed at a time, even though there are four perches. I asked a friend who lives close by if he has seen any at his feeder and he said no, not recently.Well I guess it is time to take down the feeder, until next April.  10/12/2018
