The Pagoda in Reading PA is roughly 60 miles northwest of Delaware County.  It is worthwhile to visit this beautiful structure, because it is unusual, has a wonderful vantage point of the valley below and is quite amazing that it is so close to Delaware County.We visited recently on an overcast day, but we still were able to see Reading in the valley below. We took time to enjoy some local offerings in their cafe with a view. We had a local hot dog with sauerkraut, and a local soda, mine Sarsaparillas and Doug a birch beer.  A $1 donation is all that is required to climb the 87 steps to the top for a 365 degree view.  There was a private party going on in one of the rooms half way up.  Rentals are one way of bringing in money to keep the Pagoda open to the public.If you are wondering wh... 05/05/2019

We were riding through Valley Forge Park at dusk Thanksgiving on our way home from visiting with an aunt and uncle, and we saw the moon rising over the hills.  We continued to a spot on the far side of the park where the moon was again visible and we waited for the moon to rise above the tree line.  It was quiet and peaceful waiting for the earth and moon to move so we could get a few photos. I did not have the best camera for nighttime photography, but I am happy with the few shots that turned out. 12/12/2018

It is that time of year to bring in the holiday season with the annual Rose Tree Park Festival of Lights which is Friday November 30 in Media, PA.  The Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremoney begins at 7 PM garnished with the arrival of Santa Claus and live music from local choral performers. This ceremoney lights the Christmas Tree, walkways and grounds with many animated childhood figures like Charlie Brown and the Peanuts, and Santa with all his Reindeer. Please consider bringing an unwrapped new toy for a child 3-12 years old for the Delaware County Park Police Holiday Toy Drive which benefits local children of families in need. If you cannot make this event, please be sure to visit sometime during the holiday season.  The Festival of Lights holiday display is lit nightly from 5:30 - 9:30... 11/29/2018

When I was a teenager I had an older friend who was an art student at Tyler School of Art outside of Philadelphia and because of this friend and the art classes I took in high school I was exposed to the world of art, both of which I am very thankful. My love of certain art periods and artists are many, but one of my favorite artists is Vincent Van Gogh.  He was a troubled soul but had support from a brother who helped him live and pursue his art.  The thing I really like about Van Gogh's creations are his use of bold brilliant colors, blues, and the very thick application of paint.  I have seen a few of his paintings up close over the years and I just enjoy being in the room with these paintings.  They seem to give me a sense of peace, even though they were painted by a very troubled s... 11/18/2018

We entered the world of real estate before the wide spread use of the GPS. Taking out buyers to see a handful of houses required planning on my part to get the route in place so we would be on time for our appointments and to be familiar with the routes. I remember drawing maps on the back of each page I printed for each house we were going to visit if it was in a neighborhood I was not familiar with intimately. And gosh if there was an unexpected detour we would have to refer to our five county road map that detailed all the roads in the county. I remember being delighted that we won a Five County Street Map at a real estate function, you know those gatherings where you put your business card in a fish bowl at the door!   It was such a helpful tool to win such a prize. And then GPS's b... 11/16/2018

It is because of my mother that working with fibers, yarns and fabric will always be part of my life.From an early age I was taught to work with yarn, to sew by hand and to use a sewing machine.My mother had a Singer sewing machine that she used to make clothing and to mend things. She was always in the middle of a project and never had idle hands even while watching TV. I learned along with my sisters how to sew at an early age, how to crochet and to knit, how to darn socks. We made clothes for our dolls and then clothes for ourselves. It is because of my father that I love and appreciate nature. I remember at an early age going for rides to Valley Forge Park with my dad and being let out of the car with a few of my siblings and just running, running, running down hills and in the woods and sledding down snow banks in winter, and walking in the woods while leaves were falling.
