Happy Easter to Those Who Celebrate!These eggs are eggs I decorated years ago.  Pysanky as they are called in the Ukrainian tradtion of which I was raised.  Using bees wax on the surface of an egg is a difficult thing. My patterns took on a life of their own, nothing that would win an award, but I am glad I had the experience of doing these eggs. I also wove the fabric and embroidered the flowers. As I write this post the Eagles' Championship Parade is happening on Broad Street in Philadelphia. The buses loaded with the Eagles' players and support staff are enroute to the Ben Franklin Parkway and then to the Art Museum steps. All Philadelphia schools closed today as well as most in the surrounding suburbs. The weather has cooperated, the sun is shinning which helps in the bitter cold. This is such a wonderful time for the city and the region!Way to go Eagles on bringing home the Lombardy Trophy!!  Thank you!  I can't help thinking of this song....  02/08/2018

Well it is Groundhog Day and Phil saw his shadow, so winter will be with us for another 6 weeks!  I must say this winter has been a colder one, but so far we have been spared from a really shut down Nor'easter storm here in SE Pennsylvania.Groundhog Day always reminds me of 2 things: the time we visited Punxsutawney PA and the movie "Groundhog Day".Our visit to Punxsutawney PA a few years back, happened in the spring so we did not have to deal with snow. We were visiting a relative not too far away so we thought we'd check out the town where Punxsutawney Phil resides.  We discovered Phil lives near the library and the downtown park.  We were surprised to find out from locals that the spot where Phil sees his shadow is on the outskirts of town at Goblers Knobb of which we did visit.  We ... 02/02/2018

We have a feeder in our backyard which attracts birds of many varieties, from migrating Juncos to suet eating Red-Bellied Woodpeckers. On occasion there are hawk sightings. Sometimes we tell when a hawk is in the area because all the birds and squirrels take drastic measures to get out of sight. Other times we just happen to catch sight of a big bird sitting on a fence. Recently with the real cold weather we have been seeing more hawks hanging out.  These are a few pictures of one recent visit by a Sharp Shinned Hawk.      01/23/2018
