Poconos summer tourism takes hit from recession, and the weather

The Pocono Record indicated that the Pocono's this year got hit with two things during the summer tourist season. Recession #1, and the weather #2. One major factor can be overcome but two makes it very difficult. That's what has been happening since Memorial Day. They say local resorts and attractions have been dealing with the worst economic times in decades. The National Weather Service measured precipitation at Mount Pocono almost 7 inches above the norm, almost 20 inches of rain. More than half of the days from June through August had at least a trace of rain, including 23 of the 30 days in June. The longest streak of days without rain only hit six, from Aug. 3 to 8.
